Perfect and good location

Reviewed By Sarah N

We stayed one night here in April for my husband's birthday on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel is centrally located with it's own private car park and is within walking distance to the cathedral and shops, bars etc. We stayed in a Junior Suite which was amazing. Very comfy and spotlessly clean and seeped in history. It was very quiet and we did not hear any noise or traffic. Breakfast was very nice offering all the usual suspects. The staff were very attentive and very efficient. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I was to say in Norwich again.

Good sleep guarantee not honoured

I stop in Premier Inns for the quiet. My room’s sound insulation wasn’t quite up to the job and after two nights, I asked for a different room. The staff, as always were extremely helpful and I was moved. The next night a fire alarm went off. These things happen but I expected a one night refund based on the company’s stated guarantee. All I got was a generalised email apology, which was not good enough. Make sure you get a top floor room!

38 St Giles Boutique Bed & Breakfast

38 St Giles is a grand house with a long and interesting history. It was built in 1700 for the Gurney family and became home to the former Lord Mayor of Norwich. Its neatly tucked-away entrance just off St Giles Street creates an intimacy and privacy that is unrivalled. We are the most centrally located boutique accommodation in Norwich, a stone's throw from the largest outdoor covered marketplace in the UK and adjacent to 'the lanes' - one of the oldest parts of this fine city and an area of national repute boasting well over 200 independent retailers of fashion, food and just about anything else that you might wish to buy. Inside the main entrance we have a grand staircase from which most of the bedrooms are accessed. From our wonderful double rooms to our two large suites you will be surrounded in comfort and a sense of history. We have chosen an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary pieces of furniture & artefacts, sumptuous throws, cushions and rugs. Our bathrooms feature oversized walk-in showers and rain shower heads, several rooms also have baths. White, fluffy towels and a range of quality toiletries help ensure that your morning ablutions are a positive experience! In selecting our bedding we have chosen simply embroidered 400 thread count white Egyptian cotton (not easy to iron but wonderful next to the skin) with goose down and feather pillows and duvets. Homemade cakes are served on arrival with a choice of teas or our specially blended and locally roasted coffee. We bake our own bread, make our own preserves and source all of our ingredients from the best local suppliers. No corners are cut in attempting to provide you with a relaxing, comfortable and memorable stay. We are happy to cater for small wedding parties, birthdays, anniversaries and other group bookings. We can even create a special meal with fine wines and champagne on arrival for that extra special treat.

Fabulous Birthday treat

Reviewed By bensH4693AB

I was lucky enough to have a surprise overnight stay in the Gurney suite for my Birthday. The room was immaculately clean and very tastefully decorated. We were greeted with a complimentary bottle of bubbly and homemade cakes. I really cannot fault anything about the room, the bed was super comfy, shower was very powerful and the attention to detail can be seen throughout the hotel. The location couldn’t be better, 2 minute walk into the city centre and perfectly situated for a night out at any of the local top quality restaurants that this area of Norwich has to offer. After a great nights sleep we headed to the breakfast room to be greeted by Darren, we had what I can only describe as the tastiest breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice, perfectly cooked eggs on sour dough and a great breakfast menu to choose from. I don’t know how breakfast can taste this good (only Darren has the answer). The homemade granola with Greek yogurt is a must try. Thank you to Darren and Sue for running such an amazing little gem in the heart of the city and making our stay absolutely superb.

We have stayed in this hotel many of times. The hotel itself is perfect. However, the brekast was very disappointing. There was hardly any hot food, no coffee and limited juice. They filled up the hot food twice and there was still not enough which meant we all had to eat at different times!

Night Away with Friends

Reviewed By Jenny H

We recently visited Dunston Hall for an overnight stay. On arrival the receptionist was extremely friendly and arranged our rooms very quickly & efficiently. We had 'bar food' for lunch which we enjoyed on the outside patio area watching the golf which is adjacent to where we sat. The sandwiches were delicious, I had coronation chicken and unlike some places, there was lots of it and it was very tasty. Seating was very comfortable and we enjoyed a relaxing afternoon. We booked dinner for 8.30pm, which again was very enjoyable and we had a final drink in the bar before going to bed. We all had a good nights sleep and enjoyed breakfast which was self service, usual bits - choice of full English, fruit, cereal etc. All the staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough to help us with anything. One of our group went for a swim before breakfast and he said the facilities were fantastic. Just a couple of negatives, the water in the toilet was yellow when you flushed it, but didn't affect us, just a bit strange. Similarly when I had a shower, the water ran yellow for a few seconds, then cleared. We all agreed we would definitely return to Dunston Hall.

Wedding venue - outstanding

We chose Barnham Broom Hotel for our wedding on 4th June 2022. Having had to move the date twice due to covid, they were so helpful and didn’t charge us for rescheduling. The day was absolutely amazing, staff were fabulous from the time we arrived the day before and all through the wedding day, even to breakfast the following morning. Charly and her team were on hand and made sure the day went without a hitch. Steve the master of ceremonies made sure people were where they needed to be for photos etc and was a star. The meal and evening hog roast was outstanding and all of our guests commented on the standard of the food, second to none. We had a wonderful wedding day and would recommend Barnham to anyone for their special day. Thank you to each and every one of the staff. Amazing day. ????? Tanya & Jim Childs.
