Graded 4* by the Welsh Tourist Board. Located in one of the most attractive villages in North Pembrokeshire, The Golden Lion lies within the shelter of the Preseli Hills and only minutes, on foot, from Newport Bay with its estuary and wide sandy beach. The hotel offers accommodation to suit a variety of travellers including families, couples, singles or groups. All thirteen rooms within the main hotel are en-suite with colour televisions and hot and cold refreshments. The hotel boasts a very popular restaurant where residents take breakfast and dinner is served from 6:30pm till 9pm. A variety of bar snacks can be obtained from 12:00pm until 2:30pm in the bar. The Golden Lion has a very well stocked bar which offers a good selection of beers, lagers and real ales and also has an extensive wine list.
We were travelling around Wales, on our way to our B&B, and wife was getting "Hangry", so pulled into the Golden Lion as we passed through Newport. What a great find!!!! Even though they seemed to be pretty booked up, the bar guy put us in at a table that wasn't reserved for another 2 hours. We had great service, great beer, and great food. The staff was wonderful.

Cnapan is a fine listed Georgian townhouse located in the historic centre of Newport/Trefdraeth which, in turn, lies nestled where the beautiful Preseli Hills roll down to meet the spectacular Pembrokeshire National Park Coast. It is a house with a “lived-in” and loved feeling and from the generous hallway with its traditional oak Welsh dresser crowded with old family treasures, to the spacious pretty bedrooms, you will immediately feel at home in this comfortable house.
Cnapan Bed and Breakfast is truly a Jewel in the heart of Newport, Pembrokeshire. Mike and Judith were so friendly and welcoming, their home was beautiful and cosy and as an 80th birthday celebration for my mum offered absolutely everything we could want and more. Spotless accommodation, lovely breakfast, beautiful surroundings, we would most definitely return.

The name cleverly implies something else (Holiday Inn Express etc) - however, this is an en-suite room in a converted "Victorian" large house. As others have described, the "Express" is 4 houses down from the Reception building. Our first attempt to check in was aborted as it is a very small area and an argument was ongoing. An hour later the process was smoother but we were surprised by the money-up-front requirement. Very basic and tired fittings. Parking is very difficult although we were told to phone a mobile number if we had any problems (not tried). On the plus side, we thought that the room and sheets were clean and the shower gave controllable hot water. We paid £66 for a Friday night which is cheap and so all the above is expected.

We took over as new owners in October 2018. Our new chef has launched a new menu, but our beautiful, peaceful rural setting and the warm welcome you can expect have not changed. Our remote rural setting means our telephone connection is unreliable, so if you can't get through then please email us and we will call back as soon as we can. The Trewern Arms near Newport is a picturesque 16th century Inn with 10 recently refurbished ensuite bedrooms, situated on the banks of the River Nevern. It is the perfect base to explore the Pembrokeshire National Park. Whether its seeing Carningli & the beautiful Preseli Mountains or walking the breathtaking coastal path. The hotel boasts a lovely riverside restaurant, the Wheelhouse bar, and Twmpath function room, where you can find some of the best quality produce Pembrokeshire has to offer, we try to use local suppliers where possible some of which are based in Cardigan, Fishguard & Newport. Free WI-FI throughout for all our guests.
We booked to have lunch having read positive reviews and because of a recommendation from our holiday cottage nearby. Our lunch was expensive for food that was largely inedible unfortunately. I had bream on a sunblush tomato salad which sounded lovely, but was a slimy piece of fish swimming in a sea of oil, I struggled to eat any of it. My partner had a large ham, egg and chips. The ham was served in two large chunks and was very wet and rubbery (more like spam), the gigantic chips were not cooked properly and the eggs were over cooked. We made a sharp exit and won't be returning.

My wife and I have eaten at the Castle many times over the last 6 years but have never stayed there. We put this right at last and had a most enjoyable experience. Room was extremely comfortable and well appointed with a bathroom to match. The stay included breakfast served by Glyn who always had a friendly smile on his face despite the fact he seems to work 24/7. Well done all the Richards family and thank you for a most enjoyable stay!
