Very unique and picturesque

You should be aware that there is a long narrow upward twisty wooded (mostly) single track road to get to this place but once you do it's a beautiful setting. What a sunset and 360 degree view! The welcome was efficient. The one bedroom apartment with an sofa bed in the lounge would have been fine for 2 adults and 2 kids but we were 4 adults so it was a little tricky to share a bathroom accessed by the bedroom. Perhaps other accommodations on site are not configured like this? Very relaxing with accommodation in ancient buildings scattered over the hill. A nice big (bit cold!) pool at the top of the hill. A good breakfast with variety. As it is so remote we decided to eat at the restaurant both nights of our stay (didn't fancy negotiating the hill in the dark!). The food was very nice on both occasions and pleasantly served by the two ladies. Good idea to bring provisions with you when you come, as the accommodation has a kitchen area (and bring loo roll too). We were disappointed that the Roman Bath wasn't open - this was advertised at the time of booking and was something that attracted us - but apparently it was too hot. If you want peace an serenity and to get away from it all - this is definitely the place for you.

Bed and Breakfast Il Ceppo

Our bed and breakfast is located between Monteriggioni castle and Siena, at a few miles from the beautiful Sienese Montagnola. It's a family runned lodge, with only 12 cozy, comfortable rooms. We offer a rich Tuscan breakfast (cold cuts, cheese, fresh pastry, bread-butter-jam, warm drinks, etc).

Authentic food

We stayed near to this little gem which became our local eatery. The staff are wonderful and translated the menu to us, being celiac I was concerned there wouldn’t be anything for me to eat except salads! I was gladly mistaken and there were several dishes on the menu I could have. We ate some of the best Italian food I have ever eaten. If you are in Tuscany do yourselves a favour and call in for lunch, you won’t regret it!

Hotel Monteriggioni

The building, which is in the heart of this charming medieval fortress, dates back to the 17th century and is now home to the superior 4 star Hotel Monteriggioni. The original architectural style has been preserved during the restoration, creating, together with the tasteful furnishings, a luxurious setting where guests can enjoy a private yet elegant atmosphere. Twelve luxury bedrooms – each with its own particular character – and “La Maison”, a most charming apartment, look out over the boundary walls made famous by Dante in his Divine Comedy. The centuries-old olive trees and the stone swimming pool in the garden offer our guests quiet areas for reading, enjoying a long breakfast or simply relaxing. The owners, Michela Gozzi and Luigi Cagnazzo, are always ready to answer any questions about the major Tuscan art cities and the ancient villages of the area. They can give useful advice about local events, city or airport transfers, guided tours and local excursions.

Warmest welcome from our first moment arriving and every morning at breakfast. Thank YOU Erik!!!! Impressive english, and greetings in various language for all the guests. The staff here is 5 star. My husband and I stayed for a week and felt like part of the family. Very quiet , gorgeous gardens and grounds. Excellent buffet breakfast (continental) comfy beds, large bath, plenty of hot water. Pool was refreshing since we hit the region during the recent heat wave. The photos are great and showcase what to expect. Top STARS to FRANCHESCA & ERIK & STEPHANIA - whom we encountered everyday- front desk & breakfast- and to all the support ladies who kept our room perfect. Plenty of great advice on where to find the best meal, laundry service and everything a visitor needs to make the best of their time.

Relais Castel Bigozzi

Castel Bigozzi, one of the oldest and embattled castles of this area, rises in the land of Strove. In the Middle Ages this castle belonged to the ancestors of the ancient noble Montanini Family. Its coats of arms well relates its history: a red shield, like the earth that surrounds it, a black lion, symbol of courage and battles, glory and defeat .Historical chronicles in fact report that it was a place of refuge and protection for Ghibelline troops. Today, Castel Bigozzi is a hotel residence, offering hospitality to guests from the four corners of the world.A place of antique charm, immersed in the stillness of the Tuscan countryside, where you will feel enveloped by the warmth of the hospitable environment and by the richness of a land that speaks the language of Art, History, Nature and Traditions. An ideal place to find peace and to spend a totally relaxing holiday, in a land that never fails to surprise all year around. To Nature lovers this area offers many pathways for outings on foot, mountain bike or on horseback, following trails of bygone days, bringing the wanderer to breath-taking landscapes like the famous "Crete" of Siena (the Senese Clavey Hills), the Chianti, or one of the many thermal springs of the area

STAY AWAY from this hotel!!! For sure the standard is NOT 4* It is situated directly(50 m) besides the highway, which you hear constantly! Rooms on the pictures look spacious, but are not. WIFI is NOT available Breakfast ham and cheese are cheap from the supermarket, not tasty at all. The only variety is one sort of cake which changes. Personnell is friendly, but owners are not, their only interest is making money but not the well being of their hotel guests

Lonertrip to Italy started at this very beautiful hotel in the heart of vines, olives and flowers. The rooms was very italian and the pool offered you a cold swim in the prime time of the day. Staff was nice and for some reason they all knew my roomnumber after the first day, so it’s probably a sign of either me as a bit wierd or good memories of their guests. I didn’t need to tell them what number i stayed at when i ordered drinks on my room. The breakfest was beautiful with Tuscany’s best view, and the restaurant offered good food and wine, and offered a good view aswell. On the other side, you might need to plan your days here a bit. It’s difficult to get food here before the restaurant opens at 19:00 and there is no supermarket close. You can take a deadly walk along the small roads to Quercegrossa but you are lucky if the ”supermarket“ is open. Beautiful Siena is a 10min taxi trip away, so i highly recommend to use that city as a daily trip. Other than that, no more to say on this wonderful place. Would highly recommend, but i think it’s best for a couple. Was a bit lonely with my wine bottle at some points. And if you drive motorcycles. Wow. Please drive around here.

The Casalts staff will be your point of reference for suggestions and ideas to help you discover the beauty of the splendid surroundings.

The most magical place to stay

Reviewed By Sarah O

Words can not describe how we felt when we arrived at the hotel, it felt like paradise on earth. Roberto and Stephanie are the most fabulous hosts who make you feel so welcome and nothing is too much trouble for them. Everywhere on the walls is the most fantastic artwork that the couple have collected and if you are into music Roberto has a fine collection of records. We asked for a traditional Tuscan evening meal and they didn't disappoint us. Breakfast was out on the patio with a vast choose of items, from yogurts, pastry's and omelettes. The B&B has a beautiful little church attached to the house that offers weddings and baptisms. In fact I would say it's the perfect place to get married. We would return in a heartbeat.
