Castel Brunello

Excellent stay in a stunning location with a great host

Reviewed By R1940PPsarahh

We’ve spent 6 days at Castel Brunello with our baby and had a great time there. The whole building is in an excellent condition, extremely clean and has a stunning location with a great view. The host Erna is very friendly, also with the baby, and provides many good recommendations and helps with reservations for wine tastings, restaurant etc. The breakfast provides everything needed for a great start into the day. The apartments are spacious, the beds are comfortable and overall it’s very nicely furnished with everything you may need (even a washing machine). Within a few minutes walk you can find 2 very food restaurants serving typically Tuscan food and within a short car ride you can reach Montalcino where you have plenty of places to eat. We highly recommend to stay at this place no matter if you are a couple or a family - you will not regret it and we will for sure come back!

Such a pleasant experience. A boutique hotel with a relaxing atmosphere, helpful staff and an enjoyable breakfast, outside in the garden and inside in the dining room. My daughter and I stayed here 3 nights during our visit to Toscana, in a standard room. Very specious, comfortable and relaxing. Location is great on the mountains of Montalcino, easy parking at the hotel and close driving to all Val d'Orcia picturesque villages. Tip - need to book restaurants in the area before you arrive, especially if it's on the weekend. Love this, highly recommend and will definitely come back again.

Pool area fabulous, gym well equipped and some super charged bikes to get you around. All round excellent and will definitely return.

The best of Montalcino

Pulling up to Castello di Velona was like pulling up to a fairytale castle. My husband and I were on our honeymoon and we couldn't have asked for anything better. The view is phenomenal, the pool is excellent, the rooms are cozy and the staff is so friendly. We loved dinner and breakfast here, as well. The only issue was regarding our Virtuoso perks but we believe that was on part of our travel agent. Make sure your agent books your stay accordingly if using one!

Villa Le Prata - Winery & Boutique Hotel - Adults Only

Villa Le Prata - Residenza del Vescovo is the Boutique Hotel of the Villa Le Prata Winery. The eight rooms of the residence are located inside the historic Villa built in 1862 by Count De'Vecchi, which later became the summer residence of the bishops of Montalcino. The Villa is furnished with attention to the smallest detail in order to maintain its authenticity and original spirit. The structure is surrounded, in addition to the garden, by the vineyards of Brunello di Montalcino and by a park with cherry and chestnut trees which extends for about two hectares, bordered by the cypress avenue and the historic gate of the villa, now the logo of the company. The Villa has various services including the swimming pool with hot hydromassage, the possibility of organizing lunches, dinners and picnics in the vineyard or in the park, e-bikes, yoga lessons and a large package of experiences available to guests (from tastings to walks to horse in search of truffles). To enrich the heritage of the place the Winery is also engaged in a collaboration project with Italian and international artists, who will exhibit their works inside and outside the Villa.

Wonderful Boutique Hotel in the Montalcino Area

Villa Le Prata has everything one looks for in a wonderful boutique hotel in the region. The Villa is beautiful and rich in history. The staff are all friendly, personal and helpful: Francesco the General Manager deserves a shout-out for being of particular assistance. The owner Bernardo and his wife are also active in managing the property, and strive to ensure that everyone is properly taken care of. The amenities are holistic, ranging from wine tours (the hotel also doubles up as a winery with its own label) to a nice pool next to the vineyards. In short, we were happy to call Villa Le Prata home for our two nights' stay in the Montalcino region, and were shown a great time both at the hotel and the surrounding areas by Francesco and Bernardo!

The rooms at the back afford a splendid view, taking in the Val d’Orcia and the Val d’Arbia.Opening out onto this backdrop is a large, panoramic garden, where a swimming pool has been created to resemble a medieval fountain. In the remaining rooms, some of which are laid out on two levels, you can breathe in the typical atmosphere of an ancient Tuscan village.

What a wonderful location to spend a special celebration with family and friends. Each apartment offered just the accommodation we needed for our party of 13. Matteo eased the booking issues by being flexible and helpful with all our questions. Despite the age range of our party and individual requirements this was a great holiday. The pool and the courtyard were good for meeting up and then there was the wine tasting. Great. In all such a good time was had by all and months later we are still talking about the great atmosphere and the chances to tour this part of Tuscany.

Do not book this hotel!!!

Reviewed By דפנה ש

I do not see how the overall rating of this hotel is 4.5, as almost all the reviews are negative. Here is one more negative review: The staff, i.e. the owners, are rude and unfriendly. A cold and unsmiling welcome. But worst of all, they refused to help us order a table at a restaurant in town! Never had such a strange and putting off experience! You would think it was because we didn't ask to book a table at the hotel's restaurant, but it was full (the first thing they said). There is no elevator. Luckily we were on the first floor... it was tough enough, and we travel with only one suitcase for the two of us ... The size of the room is typical of small European hotels, but it smelled moldy as tough it was not aired in quite a while, and the shower is tiny and will not fit a large person. The list of amenities includes a safe, but non could be found. There was a minibar, but it had bottles of juice with overdue expiration dates!!! We realized this after we started drinking... never expected to have spoiled juice in a hotel minibar... The location is good, and we had a nice view from the window, but niether overshadow the bad experience at this hotel.

Mastrojanni Relais

A wonderful 30th birthday spent at Relais Mastrojanni

Reviewed By meganbonner_

My boyfriend and I visited here to spend his 30th birthday after spending a few days of hustle and bustle in Rome. We arrived down the dusty road with acres of vineyards either side and the Relais itself is beautifully designed and the surroundings are even more beautiful. Our room was super spacious and well decorated. The hotel is boutique in the respect that it only has a small number of rooms, definitely not more than 15 and that made it really nice at breakfast/lunch/dinner as you could always be sure to have a space. The breakfast was an array of pastries, bread, meats, cheeses but you could also order eggs. There was a fantastic green juice too which was great to start the day with too. My other half LOVES coffee and was a massive fan of the cappuccinos, it’s Illy as the winery/vineyard is part of the group (yes they do more than just coffee as we came to learn.) During our stay we used our free session at the wellness/relaxation area which has a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and massage chair. After your free session you have to pay €30 per person per hour, which does feel a little excessive so we didn’t do it again. The pool is great as for a cold dip on a hot day or just to sit peacefully and take in the views. For my other half’s 30th, we did wine tasting in the Mastrojanni winery which was so special and the place is phenomenal and experience was so informative. We had a light lunch to accompany the wines and that was a great decision. “A light lunch” isn’t necessarily the type of light lunch you’d expect in England so be warned. The slow cooked beef with mash was so tender so I’m glad it wasn’t just a meats and cheese lunch after tasting that. My boyfriend wanted to increase his number of wines during the tasting and they let him with no issue. They also provided us with a special sparkling glass each as it was his birthday. We also had dinner on his birthday at the Relais and the seafood ravioli (I think that’s what it was) was the best pasta I had in Italy this time round and my boyfriend wanted us to order another one it was that good! Of course for his birthday they also put a card and small token gift in our room and ensured his dessert had a birthday candle in it. There’s so much I could stay about Relais Mastrojanni but the last thing I wanted to call out are the incredible employees here from the reception team to the restaurant team. They are so friendly and really went above and beyond to get us reservations and generally help us with anything that we needed from before arrival to the moment we left. We couldn’t have had such a hassle free holiday without them so thank you team!
