Reviewed By Helen CIt is a place where you fall in love right away when you go out the balcony. We had room 421 which gives a nice scenery of the river. The restaurant coriander in red wood is just next door. Mae Sariang is a quiet town with a few temples and a morning market. The hotel is in the middle of town. We arrived in late afternoon and had a stroll next morning. Really enchanted by it’s tranquility. It is a place where one can stay for a few days to get away from the cities.

Reviewed By markjY8353TKWe stayed here for one night doing the Hong Son Loop on Motorcycles. It’s a great stop over on route and it’s very quirky. To get to your room you have to crossover a small bridge with koi Karp swimming below you. I can’t thank the owner and a teacher that found my bag containing all my money, passport and credit cards that had dropped out of my backpack whilst leaving the hotel and end up on the road. I only found out 2 hrs later, when we went to buy something on route. I had a missed call from the owner called Si that explained that the teacher had handed it in to the police. The police gave me his number and I couldn’t thank him enough for saving my bacon!! I left him a 1000 baht, but he gave it to the police charity. What a man!!!

Located 50 metres from the Riverhouse Resort, the Riverhouse Hotel property is entirely made from teak as well as featuring entirely handmade teak furniture throughout. The hotel prides itself in making you feel at home and peaceful among this beautiful setting along the Yuam River. Since its opening in 2001, Riverhouse Hotel has embraced the Thai way of life and shares it with newcomers. Removing one’s shoes is customary in Thai households and at the Riverhouse we adhere to such practices and ask guests to do the same. Just another way to make everyone feel at home:) The Teak House has 12 rooms comprised of twin, double and triple en suites and a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Reviewed By JamesKateleyI stopped here for the night on the way back to Chiang Mai and was very impressed with the character and feel of the original building almost entirely made of teak wood and overlooking the river. It was very quiet in town but I was made most welcome and absorbed the charm and ambience of this beautiful setting.

Nice for a night or two
Reviewed By JanitronI stayed at the Riverbank Resort for one night in February 2020. First off, the main reason I booked here was for the view from the balcony, and in that regard, I was quite satisfied. Mae Sariang is a beautiful place, and the balcony was a nice place to take it in. The location is also good, as it's on the main strip of hotels along the river and is within walking distance to anything in the city you'd want to see (although it is a good 2km walk to the Prempracha Transports bus station if you're coming to town by bus). While there were a couple negatives (a little noisy, a few too many bugs flying around the room), I'd probably stay again. While English is limited at this hotel, I must mention the kindness of the staff. I had a 7am bus at the Prempracha station, and in the morning, one of the staff that was around gave me a free ride on his motorbike, which saved me a lot of time and hassle.

Reviewed By Alex MWe arrived on our motorbikes in the afternoon and had not booked a room, so we walked around and found Mitaree on second road (back from river) There appears to be another Mitaree (2) but I'm sure we stayed at the Mitaree 1 There is a biggish car-park and at the back there are some chalets. They must have been booked up, as this was all that we were offered. The chalets where hot from the sun when we checked them, but the air-con does not need the room key to be slotted to run, so buy the time we came back from dinner the rooms where nice and cool. It seemed to be a kind of "Motel" as many guests arrived late, parking trucks and SUV's, then in morning again there was quiet a bit of truck door slamming and chatter from car-park. We were looking for an early start, so it didn't bother us. Room was nice, bed was to my liking and clean sheets. Shower was hot and air-con was modern. Not much on Tv for a westerner. There is a well stocked convenience store just out to left of car-park, and we also walked up to the PTT gas station which has a 7/11 and across the street are some small karaoke bars (we did not go in) Little disappointed with mae Sariang, many restaurants were closed, and even some which were open and had menu on road side said "sorry closed". . . . Seems like we missed the season.

Unfortunately, the room and bathroom were pretty grotty and in need of a thorough cleaning. There are many guest houses on this same road along which runs along the river. I really enjoyed staying in this neighborhood, but will probably try a different guest house on my next visit.

I came intending to stay just a couple of days, but ended up extending my trip because I had such a nice experience at this hotel, thanks mostly to the owners who made me extremely welcome and went out of their way at every opportunity to make my stay a real joy. Everything was perfect, from the location to the wifi, kitchen, etc. There were tons of options for breakfast with even a free steamed bun / dimsum thrown in from the shop next door. I ordered my breakfast in advance every night and it was there for me in the morning. There was also free coffee, tea and fruit available all day. I ended up going on a little tour of mae sariang with the owners in the car, stopping at a cafe and then joining them for dinner in the evening at a restaurant in town. So much fun, and I really recommend staying here! 5 stars :)
