Great hotel a short walk from the beach

Reviewed By Candice M

The room was very clean and a good size. It's a short walk to the beach where you can get allocated beach beds. There are lots of restaurants nearby and an excellent patisserie below the hotel. We found on the street parking easily. The receptionist is usually not at the front desk so we had to do a little bit of waiting to check in and check out

Residence Villa Mele

Vacanza da incubo

Reviewed By P4513WGsofias

Do not go there

We have owned Timeshare for 30 years and have made exchanges all over the world i.e. Australia, New Zealand, USA, Caribbibean and Europe and have never ever stayed in an apt that was so poorly equipped, there was no microwave, kettle or toaster and cooking dishes. wine glasses or even washing up liquid provided. The staff could not speak English except for one on the reception desk, it was orientated to Italians. It was our first time in Italy and will never go there again. We had to buy some cooking dishes and glasses. They had the audacity to charge us 40 euros per week for a ground floor apartment and then a further 35 euros each per week for their club which was to use the swimming pool and the transport to the beach neither which we used, we have never had to pay these charges before. We will never go to Italy again. Do

Mixed feelings

This "resort" is a bit tricky to rate since it offers a mix of good and bad things. So whether it suits you or not depends on your needs. Overall, my impression is that the resort has been around for a few decades with normal maintenance but no major refurbishing. So even though the resort is clean and tidy, there's an "outdated" feeling all over the place. During the high season, there's a whole bunch of compulsory "resort fees" that add on significantly to the listed accomodation price. These are however clearly presented at the time of booking (I booked directly through the hotel) so there's no additional surprises at check-in. On the good side: - The shuttle service to the beach works very well, no need for a car to go to the beach - The beach (~1500m away). It is an excellent long, shallow beach with clear water and nice sand. - Good quality and decently priced coffee at the pool bar. On the bad side: - The pool rules: The pool closes for 3 hours every afternoon. Wearing a swim hat is compulsory. Jumping from the edge into the pool is prohibited. - Service flaws: When we entered the room, there were no linens in the kids' bed. When we asked for linen, the just gave us a pack and we had to make the beds ourselves. - Even if an umbrella and two sun beds at the beach is included in the resort fees, you still have to book your umbrella a.s.a.p. with the beach staff to get a decent spot. When we got there, we randomly picked a free umbrella, but after a while we were pointed to another one far in the back being the only non-booked umbrella. - Why provide a very detailed list of equipment and "what you pay if you break" price (e.g. 5 forks 2EUR, 5 wine glasses 5EUR, 1 TV 200EUR, ...) when multiple items were missing already at check-in? - Evening entertainment: The entertainment staff are not as skilled as I'm used to seeing from other resorts. It more feels that they've recruited whatever local teens they've found rather than skilled singers/dancers. - Difficult to find english-speaking staff
