A bit tired now.

Reviewed By PhilM840

I spent a night here and that was long enough, the hotel seems to be a bit tired now but it is like many “cheaper” Italian hotels, although this stay wasn’t cheap! The restaurant is closed because of Covid but they still do a breakfast, you just pick what you want and they bring it to your table. The place is certainly popular with Italian workers who made up most of the guests when I was there, the other downside of this is a full carpark, lots of vans etc.

The Poet Hotel

With its new renovated and modern style, the Poet hotel is designed to tell the stories of its guests. The hotel is cosy and it wants to be a collection of stories written by those, who want to live an experience and leave a trace. The hotel is centrally located: 5 minutes far from La Spezia train station, from where it is possible to reach the villages of Cinque Terre; 3 minutes from the bus stops where it is possible to catch buses to reach Portovenere and Lerici and 5 minutes walk from the main road: Via Del Prione. Walking down this road, it is possible to find many shops, the tourist office but also the main attractions of the city: Amedeo Lia Museum, Sigillo Museum, San Giorgio Castle and the Maritime museum. At the end of Via Del Prione, it is possible to find La Spezia seafront (where in summer, it is possible to take boats to reach the beautiful villages of Cinque Terre, Lerici and Portovenere) and Porto Mirabello, one of the main yatchs harbor in the Mediterranean. The reception is open 24 hours a day and the staff speaks Italian, English, French and Spanish. Check in is from 2.30 pm and check out is within 11.30 am. Late check out is upon availability with an extra charge. Wifi is free in all the rooms and common areas. Parking is available on request for a rate of € 20,00 per night. Our buffet breakfast is served at the Poet's Hub on the ground floor from 7.30 a.m to 10.30 a.m. After breakfast, the Poet’s Hub becomes an area, where it is possible to read, eat, connect or work. Its unique design and its particular style make this place perfect for meeting people, socializing and sharing travel experiences. Here, during the day, is possible to benefit from a kettle and teas available free of charge for all our guests. In the Poet’s Hub our guests can also enjoy a drink at our American bar opened from Tuesday to Sunday from 4 pm to 10 pm. Our hotel has also a meeting room, “The Poet Box”, located on the ground floor where it is possible to organise meetings or business events.

Great Breakfast

Reviewed By Marvintm009

Once in the room I felt I was in a converted hostel. Rooms sparely furnished, basisc accomodations, not the best of locations either. Stayed here due to a tour with Trafalgar. The staff was less than friendly, they claim they have a "Bar", but they don't. The only great thing about this hotel is the breakfast was the best we had during our 3-weeks traveling throughout Italy. Would I stay here again, it would be very hard to yes, but the breakfast was out of this world.

Atmosfere Guest House - 5 Terre e La Spezia

Atmosfere is composed by two different Guest Houses, both are apartments nicely furnished and renovated by a young ligurian designer in 2015/2016. Equipped with every comfort, Atmosfere represents the ideal base to easily reach the Cinque Terre and all the villages surrounding the Gulf of La Spezia. Much attention has been dedicated to the details in order to offer hotel-like standards, trying also to offer othe guests the sensation to feel like home. We are proud of our own style, which melts so many different elements: each room is decorated in its own style. The structure is hosted in an historical ligurian "palazzo" located in the very heart of the town. Just a few minutes both from the railway station and the ferries (headed to the Cinque Terre) embarkment. Several Bus Stops (just behind the corner) are available to reach all the other villages of the area. Hot beverages, guides and information are provided to all of our guests. WiFi accessible and free throughout the whole Guest House. We speak italian :) of course, as well as english, russian, and some spanish and french.

Great staff and location

Reviewed By K302M

Traveled Italy with my mom, and this was by far the best hotel/B&B we had the entire trip. Everything was SO clean, and well maintained. The room had a safe, a mini fridge, and a small kettle for coffee and tea. We met the owner when the key to our room broke, which wasn't an issue because it was repaired very quickly (within about 20min). The staff was so quick and friendly we knew we had to stay one more night. They were also very helpful when we had questions regarding Cinque Terre. Thank you Roberto, Gabriel, and the young lady whose name I can't remember :(, for such a wonderful stay in La Spezzia!

Pretty on the surface but standard rooms need urgent renovation

Reviewed By 929essik

The outside of the hotel and general spaces are excellent and breakfast exceptional, but at least standard room needs urgent renovation and in no way is 4 star (rather 3). Challenges with the standard room on 4th floor: smell (moldy, though got used to it), shower (super small, water not hot, water pressure too small), bed (making noises), noises (from upstairs very clear woke up at 2am someone dropping stuff and going to shower, some road noises). The staff was friendly but not taking feedback nor asking how was our stay when we left.

Novecento Boutique Hotel

The narrow lane painted a beautiful Ligurian red, which is so reminiscent of the “caruggi” of many villages in the Gulf of Poets and which leads to the small boutique art hotel, announces the peculiarities of the place: silence, slowness, reserve, measure. Here, in the heart of the old city, in the first decades of the twentieth century, the ritual of occasional love, paid sex, was celebrated, hidden away from curiosity. The two-storey building, leaning against a small private square, which is surprisingly discovered by sight and which houses a reception and nine stainless rooms, was in the past a pleasure house. The ideal starting point for a splendid holiday in the Gulf of Poets, not far from the Cinque Terre, Lerici, Porto Venere and the valleys of the Province of La Spezia. The railway station (from which you can reach the Cinque Terre in less than 10 minutes) and the boarding of tourist boats are just a 5-minute walk away.

Definitely NOT a boutique and NOT a hotel

Reviewed By anektarioz

A boutique hotel is defined by its tasteful rooms and general ambience (decoration, quality of furniture, etc.). The only worthy part of this establishment is its façade. As you may see in the attached photos, the furniture in my room were cheap, the plaster on the walls was chipping and in the (big) bathroom the tiles were all PAINTED grey, which, evidently, lead to peeling off the moment you accidentally put your nails on them. Moreover, a hotel: 1. has a reception that caters for the needs of the guests. In our case, the reception was both days absent after early evening hours. When there was an internet break down, there was noone from the hotel staff to give some guidance or explanation to the guests, who, to their despair, were in the lobby trying to figure out what to do. 2. does not run out of clean glasses in the middle of breakfast (09:00). Not to forget the stains on the sheets (see relevant photo). As far as the young man that had the role of the receptionist (not after evening hours of course..), he scarcely followed the mandatory measures concerning COVID 19 (wearing a mask). The only not disappointing part of my stay was the location of the establishment, right in the city centre. Based on all the above, I am afraid that I do not recommend this accommodation.
