Lovely hotel to stay at

Reviewed By EPSteel

Lovely hotel, centrally located in Hitchin. Actually have decent parking for the hotel, unlike others in Sun Street. I requested and received a ground floor room as my legs are bad. Good, filling English breakfast. My only possible negative comment, would be a mirror above the sink in my room for allowing men to shave more easily, however that is just a small negative. I plan on staying there again on my next visit.

An Excellent Christmas Meal

Reviewed By PollysGrandpa

The last time I visitied this building, it was purely a Music School! That was many years ago! On this visit, I was accompanied by two dozen friends, members of Hitchin 41 Club and their wives. On arrival, we were geeted warmly by members of the staff and throughout the evening, we enjoyed music from a pianist. The food - pre-ordered - was excellent, and the service from the young staff, was exceptional - attentive without being intrusive. Drinks were reasonably priced, and overall value for money was very good indeed.

Luxury, excellent customer service, stunning setting

Reviewed By JoMills22

From check in to check out, nothing was too much for the amazing staff. They brought us a very last minute breakfast in bed with impeccable service and a smile. More than happy to chat and spend time with you without ever letting anyone wait too long at the bar or reception or in the restaurant. As we were leaving my car battery was dead. Dan the barman went out of his way to drive to his parents and get us a charger while the rest of the staff kept us smiling reassuring us they would sort it out. The venue itself is a beautifully restored farmhouse with original features, modern touches and a vibe of cosy luxury. We will definitely be back and can't wait to do so. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful x

A magnificent Wedding venue

Reviewed By NigelRo

We held our daughters wedding here in April 2022 on a dry hire basis in the marquee and in addition we had all of the downstairs adjacent conference rooms for other parts of the day. The staff were simply superb, from the first engagement and at every touchpoint along the way, ALL the staff were helpful, nothing was too much trouble, in fact they went out of their way to make it all work. Liaison with 3rd party suppliers was excellent. We cannot speak any more highly of Helen who was our coordinator from beginning to end, she simply owned it whatever it was, it was dealt with quickly and with a smile, Helen you are a superstar! Too many people to mention them all but in particular thanks to Manfred also for his organisational skills on the day and Neil on the front desk, always smiling. Whatever your wedding needs up to quite large numbers, they can be accommodated here you wont be disappointed, we had an enjoyable experience from the first meeting until the time we left. WELL DONE!

Lovely relaxing stay

Reviewed By chrissyb_10

Great place to stay, we booked only 1 night, wish it’d been longer. Felt welcome and totally relaxed from the outset, lovely setting, clean, comfortable room, everything we needed. Fridge stocked with water, milk, juice, yoghurts, jam, butter & bread. Warm croissants delivered in the morning. Terrace outside patio door overlooking pond, loved bird watching, lucky to see moorhen chicks ! There’s a very flirty peacock and a peahen, lovely to sit watching the horses in their paddock, and the camels!(yes! Camels!I thought I’d been too many gins!) At twilight, you can sit in the super comfy chairs outside and watch the bats swooping, and listen to the owls. In the morning, we were offered a show round and met so many animals. Camels, horses, owls, meerkats, goats, chickens, dogs. Yes, it is under the flight path from Luton, but it really isn’t a problem. Wasn’t aware of any planes through the night, and it’s not that invasive We loved our stay. Would I return, YES! In fact, we are planning to re book for autumn. It’d be a good place to visit in colder weather as it’s heated and very cosy Thank you very much for our lovely mini relax break

Amazing day

Reviewed By paulad1234567

myself and my husband were married at Offley place at the beginning of summer. What a wonderful venue! Despite all the commotion reagrding the pandemic our dream day was able to become reality in the gorgous british summer!

We were able to book the rose view suite to get ready in the morning which was such a lovely little touch to make me feel like even more of a princess on the day! We were married at the local church and then had reception drinks and canapes in the main house section of the venue. the wonderful staff always ensured we had a drink in our hands and even broguh us our own plate of canapes so we didnt miss out!

Our evening dinner and dancing took place in the ballroom and it was just beautiful- the chandeliars really make it seem like a dream! We danced the night away and were throughlly looked after the entire time by servers and bar staff.

Let down!

Reviewed By 429Happy

I visited this hotel from West Sussex via Cambridge for a morning coffee since it’s a place steeped in history. On arrival it certainly lived up to its reputation. Sadly I was turned away although there were many empty seats around. The hotel being closed to the public due to other commitments. I find this hard to comprehend. May I suggest the manager with whom I spoke could have been more pragmatic and visionary either today or in the future. Furthermore it would have been extremely useful to have been advised on the hotels web site.

Plenty of room for improvement

Reviewed By BecciT78

Well what can I say....not somewhere that I’d stay again unless it changed a lot! Room was small with single bed, wardrobes had lots of ?owners clothes in. Kettle was filthy and I did not want to use it, cup provided was a tiny tea cup, coffee was out of date by 2, 3 and 4 years!!! Bin in room had used tea bags in it and was dirty. Very dusty throughout. Towel was old and grubby looking. Shower was dirty, bath mat was disgustingly filthy, bathroom had lots of very old products in there and more concerning there were prescription only medications in the cupboard (strong codeine)!!! Also what must have been the owners electric toothbrush on the wall which was so dirty and covered in old discoloured toothpaste residue, I wouldn’t even brush a dogs teeth with that!! Breakfast was ok though served on what I can only describe as a side plate (very small). What was presumably meant to be orange juice tasted like very watered down concentrate. In all it was an unpleasant stay which is a shame as it is a beautiful house in gorgeous grounds so has a lot of potential. The photos I took don’t do justice to how filthy things were. And the bath mat picture is how it was when I got there and how it remained as there was no way I would stand on that!! What would be the point in washing your feet then standing in filth?!?!
