Reviewed By vallarta001No question that the view from the hotel grounds is magnificent. That’s were the praise stops. The same food finds it’s way to the breakfast buffet and dinner salad bar each day. What is fresh and what is reused is a subject of concern. None of the prepared food is prepared properly and for the most part is inedible. We elected to go out for dinner, even though we had prepaid meals. The meal service was atrocious, dirty dishes accumulating on the tables and dinner courses arriving only after you had lost your appetite waiting. The hotel is clearly lacking good management and is in dire need of upgrade. Ants infest the rooms, only to return after housekeeping responds to being informed of the infestation. Our 10 day stay was extremely disappointing. My suggestion is to find a different hotel for your stay on Elba.

Beautiful boutique hotel in prime location
Reviewed By JuengelWe spent four nights on Elba and in this beautiful boutique hotel and enjoyed our stay very much. In fact. we thought that this location was more than prime - our seaside room was so spacious and beautifully decorated - and featured a super-quite A/C. Listening to the waves at night (sometimes also some drunk young people who chose to hang out a the beach at 4 AM ;-)) and waking up looking at the sea from our comfy bed. The breakfast offered everything we needed and the staff was very sympathetic and attentive. Sant' Andrea is a more remote area on Elba which we preferred of Portoferraio since it feels a little bit more exclusive to us. There are plenty of restaurant options in the vicinity (walking distance) and the sea/beach is beautiful (though very full - we were there in August just before ferragosta). A coastal walk brings you to beautiful rocky shores where you can jump into the sea. Just perfect. Thank you, Hotel Ilio Team, for making our stay a special one.

Pretty hotel but inconvenient location
Reviewed By dbf1972Hotel was in country park setting with large swimming pool and another pool for kids, beach and view of harbor/ bay. Staff was very helpful, but hotel is located too far from historic sites, unless you had a car. It was an expensive taxii ride from ferry and back into town for dinner. The hotel had a restaurant but no other choices were near by.

Reviewed By georgiae449Gorgeous and very well run hotel on the beach. Yes, it is expensive but you get what you pay for. Excellent service and staff, lovely rooms. I can only highly recommend this hotel. The only thing lacking is perhaps a tea towel in the room as there is a small kitchenette. And... for the price of the room, they could offer the coffee capsules. That is a bit over the top in our opinion. Carmine at the small beach bar, makes a killer Spritz!

Reviewed By Vas MThe hotel is good but the best thing is the hot atmosphere of the personnel. Also the access to the beach is so easy and the beach is one of the best on the island . Breakfast is typical Italian and the hotel provides WiFi everywhere . Free parking and beach towels are also provided . Across the street is the only bar on the village that stays open till night . Everything was nice

Overrated and too expensive
Reviewed By s855508We were a bit disappointed about this hotel after all the good ratings here and on other sites. The staff was very friendly and hospitable indeed. And the location is quite good as it is only a couple of minutes walk to the shops and restaurants in the small village of Pomonte as well as to the nearest pebble beach. However, we found our room to be clean yet basic and outdated. The fan of the airco was aimed directly at our pillows. The bathroom and especially the shower were small. The balcony faced a wall and the neighbor’s garden. And the WiFi was slow and completely unsecured. Also dinner and breakfast could really use a quality boost as everything was very basic for Italian standards. Even for July we felt we really paid too much for the service provided. Overall we rate hotel Corallo 3/5. We do not recommend others not to go here, also because the owners are really good people who certainly deserve a second chance. However, because of the absence of any WOW factors during our stay we will probably not return ourselves.

The food and wine delicious and great advice of the sommelier. More than enough facilities. Possible and recommendable to rent a scooter through the reception and scout the island (don't forget your towel and snorkel gear). We spend our honeymoon here and had the most romantic time ever. We would definetely recommend staying at Villa Ottone.

A Perfect Vacation from Our Vacation
Reviewed By KBuffoBetween Rome and Florence we spent a few days at La Stella on Elba. For starters the price was unreal for such a gorgeous property... the view, the gardens, the sea and the beach. The food at the restaurant was sophisticated and delicious. The baked treats for breakfast and dessert were excellent. The staff was nice and accommodating. We walked down the stairs to the lovely town beach each day, and after a couple hours of intense sun escaped to the shade and spritzes of the lounge chairs in the hotel's garden with a panoramic view. Elba has much to offer, but we felt little need to explore beyond the many charms of La Stella.
