DO NOT TRUST THIS HOTEL!!

Reviewed By jemssx

I can not recommend this hotel. The only pro was that the staff at the hotel were very friendly when we we there. Two days after we departed the hotel, we noticed a charge of almost £250 on our credit card, charged to the card two days after we arrived home?? We trusted the hotel with our credit card details upon check in, we did not spend anything whilst at the hotel and they were satisfied that no further charges were applicable at the time of our check out. We have tried to contact the hotel on multiple occasions to query the incorrect charge and we have been either passed to various departments or ignored. No one is ever available to discuss the issue. No one has called us back and six weeks later this is still unresolved. DO NOT TRUST THIS HOTEL, THEY WILL STEAL FROM YOU!!

Quiet, clean, good location

Reviewed By Overseez

As an airport hotel, 10 out of 10, but as a Sofitel, it doesn’t really compare to, say, a place like the St. James in London or New York or even, for that matter, the slightly dated Melbourne Sofitel, and as the Sofitel brand goes, it's a solid 7 tops. The location is ideal, absolutely perfect for a stay over to catch an early flight, the hotel is neat as a pin, the staff efficient and friendly, the rooms adequately appointed with nice towels and crisp sheets. It’s amazingly quiet considering you are adjacent to an international airport. The pool, gym and sauna are OK, if a tad small. The bar terrace is a pleasant space to relax for a drink and perhaps a nosh, although the food options are limited.

Cape Sounio, Grecotel Exclusive Resort

One of the most famous archaeological sites of Greece is the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio, south-east of Athens. The Grecotel Cape Sounio literally clings to the side of a pine-clad hillside with panoramic views over this ancient monument. Behind the hotel is the Sounio National Park and below the hotel are two bays (one sandy and the other is shingle) which are approached via tunnels under the road (ancient river path). The buildings are set in an amphitheatre shape allowing exhilarating views of the Temple of Poseidon and the sea from most guestrooms and public areas.

A real 5 star experience with a view

Really excellent stay in this luxury hotel with a phantastic view, a true 5 star experience. From the welcome to the room, the beach, the dinner, room service and checkout - all is really well serviced. Anything you ask for, it will be provided. We highly recommend this hotel, and are thankful for this experience. We were particularly luckily as we got an upgrade to the honeymoon suite and the view on the Poseidon temple is just breathtaking.

Not so all inclusive

Reviewed By Emily S

The hotel is ok. Rooms were clean and we had fresh towels everyday (unfortunately we had a dodgy toilet). The pools were also nice but the sunbeds were chained to each other so you couldn’t position them in the direction you wanted easily. Fresh orange juice at breakfast was an additional €2 per glass. There was a selection of cocktails included but branded spirits and ice cream were all added extras. Cocktails and beer were served in paper coffee cups which felt cheap. Pool towels require a €10 deposit per towel and they do not have an ATM on site. We had to go into the local village. Parts of the hotel need a spruce up, there were stained carpets down the corridors and the life size chess set has missing pieces but we improvised with t-shirts. The beach was nice but don’t forget your beach shoes as it’s very stoney. Overall, we had a pleasant stay but would rate the hotel 3*

Main pool/ WC

The pool bathrooms are not four seasons standard. They are all wet and a mess. It’s like going to the bathroom in a water park. The main pool is a jungle. They should have a separate pool for the kids. I have kids of my own. But this is not four seasons.

Words are not enough

Reviewed By AMH422

Words cannot possibly express my gratitude to the staff at Holiday Inn Athens Airport I overnighted at Holiday Inn Athens Airport on my way to Crete on May 18. Then as my niece came to join me she overnighted there and the desk personnel made sure to bill me for her stay. From the shuttle driver, who is very sweet, to reception check in, to the restaurant everyone was kind and accommodating. The rooms are very comfortable, clean, and quiet. The convenience of the shuttle and location to the airport were important points for me. The restaurant was excellent (they make the best tomato soup). That would be enough, but where this hotel really shone for me was when I was given a positive covid test, despite being fully vaccinated and boosted, when I was on my way back to the USA. I was required to quarantine. Those with me were negative so I sent them on. I presented myself at the desk, hoping someone would take pity on me. Although they had an event going on they were able to provide a room for my quarantine period. I cannot tell you how comfortable they made me feel, how I was at peace while I waited this out, never leaving my room. Room service provided the food and water I needed. When I needed medication the doctor told me to take they sent someone on the shuttle to the airport pharmacy to pick it up. They lent me a thermometer twice so I could report my temperature. And they would ask me how I was feeling and extend their best wishes. Good news, after my quarantine period I tested negative at 12:30 in the morning, and was on the shuttle to the airport at 3:30 a.m. for my flight home. The people at the desk were wonderful getting me checked out, and on my way home. Thank you to the general manager, the reception, restaurant/room service. It was hard being there on my own, alone, and you made the situation bearable, and as I said before, and it think it is important, I felt at peace.

5 Stars ,No! Way

We booked 5 nights at the start of May.2022 in a Deluxe room based on so many good Reports we had read , the first impression was not too good the Hotel looks more like a left over from the 70/80s, but the interior was very nice and clean, the check in did not go well either due to the problem of explaining the rules in English which was an uneasy situation for us both, but the biggest disappointment was to come the breakfast was à la carte not buffet, which is the first time we have experienced this in 20 years from a 5 Star Hotel the personal were very friendly and did their upmost to please. The rooms are Ok but old and nothing Special, the Pool looks very nice evening’s but there are simple not enough Parasols and are also too small, so if you are relaxing with 2 people as was the case with us one person gets a sunburn and her is a warning for people over 50 the nights are very loud on the pool, Wi-Fi is free of charge but 50% of the time does not work, I’m so sorry to have to give such a negative report but with the very high prices and bad services The Margi need a wakeup call.

Truly awful in every word

Reviewed By Erh1

You couldn't make up what a shambles this place is. I would feel robbed if I was paying half the price thinking it was a 3* The hotel itself is cramped, low quality interiors, dated& unclean The staff are unhelpful at best, rude & argumentative as a default The food inedible No Service Though there are plenty of staff around, they were reluctant to help on the many issues encountered. Just a few examples inc. blaming the room key cards stopping working every day on a different thing each day - the lock on the room, us putting cards next to phones, the cards - and refusing to acknowledge that it was happening to multiple guests on a daily basis not just us. Refusing to move umbrellas to provide shade. Food Despite being in Greece, a land of fresh produce, there was no fresh food at breakfast. Fruit was either canned or low grade imported and the hot food was tired & stale each day. Even the produce the country is famous for was low quality & mass market opposed to fresh exemplars as one would expect of a 5* hotel. The greek yogurt mass market, the honey rancid, the olives all revolting. Facilities The rooms are cramped, ugly & repeatedly not cleaned. The beach is cramped & unclean. The gym the showcase they charge e20 p/person p/day, the free gym dirty.
