Very nice hotel in small village

Reviewed By Brian N

Stayed here for two nights in early September 2019. We were the only guests so that was a bit odd when we arrived and the door was locked. Had they our booking? How would we get in? Solved when the owner arrived. However we speak on Greek/German and he not much English. But we managed. We were given room 6. Room was excellent. Only issue was with the shower which was hand held as no wall fixing. Great Breakfast in the garden. There was no restaurant so we ate in the village. Would recommend Volakas and this hotel for a unique village in mountain scenery (apart from scars from quarries but they do not spoil it too much).

Hotel Philoxenia

A short escape after the first coronavirus lockdown

Reviewed By AsterixThessaloniki

At last we could plan a weekend (2 nights) in this elegant hotel and to visit all the pittoresque sightseeings of mountain Rodopi. The hotel is situated on a hill above the small town of Paranesti. The river Nestos is nearby (there is a very good path at the entrance of the village) The rooms are spacious and comfortable with very good view to the village and mountains. Breakfast is satisfying. The stuff (for this time) was a very gentle family, who behaved as we were their guests at home. The room wasn't cleaned for the second day of our stay due to the silly government's protocolls against the spread of coronovirus. If we can come back in a normal life again, we will come back to continue our vacatins in this hotel and area.

A small comfortable guesthouse on the mountains

Reviewed By AlonCohen999

Petrini Gonia is a very good place to stay if you chose to visit this less known part of Greece. The guest house is small and so are the rooms but it is obvious they thought even on small details. The rooms are very nicely decorated with wooden furniture that suits the place, bed is comfortable and plenty of hot water in the shower. The "staff" is mainly the owner, Barbara who is so friendly and welcoming that you do not feel any language barriere ( and she speaks Greek only), she recommends trips and places to visit, she prepares a very delicious breakfast (even she did not understand our vegetarian requirements..) and she is in the very good taverna in the evening preparing ans surving a tasty dinner. Make sure you get the rooms facing the road ad the mountains , although the others are good as well, these have better view.

This is a Greek paradise

Reviewed By Christel8

You will not find a better place for relaxing than this hotel. It is a small hotel but the owners of the hotel will do everything to make your stay comfortable and not to forget. We stayed in the hotel with a group of 8 people and had a wonderful dinner on our first evening. The views from the different terraces are just amazing. They have a small swimming pool where you also can relax. And then the breakfast, it was just delicious. The rooms are very nice and comfortable too. Special thanks again to the owners: your hotel is just excellent. Whenever we are again in that area of Greece, we come back for sure.

Stop during my northern tour of Greece

Reviewed By Stinders P

This was one of or the worst hotel experience ever. The receptionist was a grumpy guy (but ok, nice character I think), not very capable of his adminstrative job and drinking frim the afternoon. The room wasn't very clean, with stains of god knowswhat on the carpet and even the walls. Black mould stains in the bathroom (between tiles and the attachement of the shower and the wall). At about 7 I wanted to have something to eat and before I had a drink in the hotel cafeteria. The guy serving me was so drunk he could hardly speak, and was not cleanly dressed. I passed for the hotel restaurant and went out for something to eat. The neighborhood is evenly terrible. No nice Greek restaurants nearby, only some mega hamburger/souvlaki/French fries restaurant, run by some kind of gypsy family. The hotel itself is in a terrible semi industrial area. They have an enormous fountain, wich I think used to be a swimming pool. If it had still been a pool I would have stayed my 2 nights there, but now I went away after the first night (and was even thinking about leaving immediately). This is the first time of my life I left a hotel before the planned departure date.
