Great place to stay, spacious, clean accommodation with well equipped kitchen, nice pool, sauna & steam room, unfortunately the jacuzzi was out of order but will hopefully be working soon. Close to several places to eat, a nice Marina & the National Memorial Arboretum.

Mixed opinion

The hotel is situated in beautiful countryside and there are some interesting exhibits on show. Staff were polite and helpful in the main, one member of staff gave us conflicting and baffling information about the swimming pool, until the manager stepping in and gave us the correct info. The hotel is in need of a make over, corridors leading to the rooms are shabby in parts with damaged and peeling wallpaper, also the carpet in our room was coming away near where it meets the tiled area exposing the carpet grips which were quite sharp. Lastly the food and drink is vastly overpriced, and fairly average, I had a cup of coffee that was barely warm, it was exchanged for another cup of tepid coffee.

A gem of a place

I commute to Burton-on-Trent from London every week and stay in hotels while up there working. Unfortunately, there is a real paucity of food quality, value-for-money hotels in Burton, let alone any establishments coming even close to the definition of luxury; or so I thought, until I discovered Dovecliff Hall Hotel where I stayed for the first time last week. Situated just outside Burton, between Stretton but closer to Rolleston-on-Dove, Dovecliff Hall Hotel was a total surprise of the very pleasant kind. Built in the 19th century, the large, impressive building was once a stately home and has a lovely long driveway leading up to it. The side entrance opens to a large, impressive entrance hall with a large dark wood staircase and panelling. My room was large with a beautiful high ceiling, a King- sized bed with high thread-count sheets and pillowcases, scatter cushions and throw. The usual tea and coffee making facilities are present with a few packets of good quality biscuits offered free. The full marble bathroom, complete with high quality guest toiletries and a large bathtub was great to relax and luxuriate in after a hard day’s work. Breakfast was included in the very reasonable midweek price of £108 and, for no extra cost, you can have it brought to your room. The selection of breakfast dishes is excellent with porridge, cereals and toast available along with a choice of a full English or lighter options such as eggs benedict plus tea or coffee and apple or orange juice. The staff were very friendly and efficient and really made me feel special and looked after during my stay. The setting is very picturesque and quiet with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. I shall certainly be returning and have no hesitation recommending them to anyone looking for a lovely place to stay in the area.

Good location. Delivers what it promises

Reviewed By JSM8

Ibis is known as a budget chain, so when I discovered that this hotel was branded as "Ibis budget", I was slightly worried......and continued to be a little concerned when arriving at what looked like a railway goods warehouse (which is what I guess this building started life as. However, my concerns were not realised. Yes it was certainly budget, but it delivered exactly what I needed - a clean room, comfortable bed, good working space, strong wifi and a bathroom where everything worked, I was on the top floor (room 402) which only had a skylight, but there was enough in the way of lights to ensure the room was bright. It was actually quite spacious. Breakfast was fine and the staff were all friendly and courteous. I got a voucher to display on my car which meant that parking was free from 6pm to 8am the following morning. As an overnight stop to rest my head whilst on business this worked out just fine

Found an opened condom wrapper under the bed. Very old, run down hotel. Retro hair dryer in room. Stayed in executive room but nothing executive about it apart from a fancy light fitting. Light sensor in bathroom turned off whilst using shower or toilet. On a very noisy ring road, lots of traffic. Wouldn't stay here again.

Excellent Sunday Lunch we had the sharing board of 3 meats. The portions are very generous and the quality of the food was first class. You get mash as well as roast potatoes, plenty of wonderfully cooked vegetables and very generous gravy. The puddings are delicious too.
