Friendly, quiet, reasonably priced hotel in Biella

Reviewed By WilliamNz

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in late June 2017 with my wife. The staff are very friendly, the breakfast is adequate, the rooms are quite large and are also quiet. There is also free parking under the hotel. The hotel is located approx. 1 km from the centre of the city, so perhaps not so convenient if you do not have a car.

This family-owned hotel is run with care, serving a very good breakfast buffet. Rooms and beds are comfortable, there is ample free parking and the location in the center of Biella cannot be beat. The front desk was helpful in scheduling covid tests for us before departing Italy.

Santuario di Oropa

Oropa is the most important and largest Sanctuary dedicated to the Virgin Mary to be found in the Alps. It's surrounded by the Natural Reserve of the Sacro Monte and it's located in a unique, natural and unspoilt setting at 1200 m above sea level, at only 20 minutes drive from the centre of Biella. In the Ancient Basilica is worshipped the statue of the Black Madonna, from the Middle Ages. Oropa offers excellent accommodation for around 500 guests. There are 4 room typologies: suite, junior suite, comfort and tourist. They are stylishly furnished with antique furniture creating an evocative atmosphere. Inside the Sanctuary and in the surroundings, there are 12 restaurants and "trattorie" that serve the typical "polenta concia" (made with corn flour, cheese and butter). Not to be missed: the Sacro Monte (the Holy Mount - UNESCO heritage), the Museum of the Golds, the Royal Pavillon, the Monumental Cemetery, the Botanical Garden, the Adventure Park.

WOW!

You wont come here by accident. The buildings & setting are spectacular. Accommodation was comfortable if a little dated but we knew this. You use a choice of two cafe's for breakfast. We stayed out of season ... & a warning. It's very quiet & although they hand you a list of 13 local restaurants only one was open the night we stayed! Ristorante Fornace which was very good value.

Charming B&B in Biella's old town

Reviewed By quasar33

Located in Piazzo, Biella's old town. Beautiful old palazzo turned into B&B. Nicely decorated with lots of cache. Most of the furniture is from the owner's antique shop. Excellent view of the alps from terrace. For geeks, good wi-fi. Breakfast was quite simple. A couple of dining options in Piazzo, otherwise a short walk/funicular ride down into the "new" town.

What a room!

Reviewed By Jackie U

We had terrible trouble locating this B&B because it was hidden down a side alley in the pleasant and interesting small town of Biella. We had misgivings at first, because the location did not look great, but we were nicely greeted and told we had a choice of three rooms, but as soon as we saw what owner Eddie called 'the Light Room' we were enchanted. This large room comprised a suite! Not only a large bed, but a couch and armchairs, desk and large TV in a colourful, tasteful room with a window-wall onto the breakfast terrace and garden. A curved glass-bricked wall led into the most intriguing shower room I've ever seen: a nautical theme, with a pebbled floor, two great shower heads, and an artful use of attractive seashells and large white pebbles. Large sink, bidet and loo all artfully fitted. Copious large towels. We were enchanted. Eddie sent us up a cliff for our dinner (actually, he recommended a place at the top of a funicular railway). Wonderful filled croissants were part of a great breakfast. We definitely want to return to Biella for a week, and we hope we get THAT room again!

Augusta's B&B is located at 4-5 km from Biella city centre, in the quiet village of Mongrande The house is very quiet and opens to a garden with the old 19th century theater. Our room was spacious, comfortable and spottless clean. Bathroom is large, well equiped and shared with the other rooms. The breakfast room is piled with all sorts of goodies and drinks all on free serve. Augusta and her husband Massimo have been perfect hosts (Augusta speaks French)

Quindi molti complimenti e sicuramente ritorneremo
