Top 10 hotels in Bergamo, Italy

August 7, 2022 Kiesha Cripe

Bergamo is a northern Italy treasure. Dating from 49 BC, Bergamo has two centers: the Alta (upper) city and the Bassa (lower) city, connected by a funicular and walking trails.  For historic sites, go to Alta for the Piazza Vecchia, the Cattedrale di Bergamo e Battistero, and the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore Baptistry,  as well as the quirky mausoleum of Rastelli, the world famous juggler. Bassa is more modern and residential, and boasts Via 20 Settembre - the shopping district.

Not a 4 Star Hotel

Reviewed By Readytotravel2000

Although the staff was very good, the rooms are small and bathrooms need to be refurbished. Small lobby. Does not have the feel of a 4 star hotel. The hotel entrance is below street level; ramp or stairs are needed. Luggage may be hard to carry. Location is very good; in the center of town and a 5 min walk to train station

Stylish lodging centrale located in Bergamo

Reviewed By piedep

This albergo is ideally located in Citta Bassa nearby restaurants, bars and shops, though in a calm(er) street. It has a lovely interior with a lot of attention for nice paintings. The hostess (and so is the entire staff) is very friendly, helpful and a real polyglot. You may blindly follow her advise and tips. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, having all you need; great bed and bathroom as well. You may consider to ask for a room at the backside if your are sensitive to a little street noise. Good variety of choice during breakfast. Prices aren’t cheap but it’s certainly worth to consider this hotel!

Very good, would recommend

Excellent location, very clean spacious room and quiet despite it being very central in the new town. It's traditionally styled and perhaps needs some modernisation but overall a pleasant, comfortable hotel. Reception and housekeeping staff very helpful, the breakfast room staff a bit diffident. One slight negative is that the roof terrace is inaccessible until evening and then only for diners. We would have like to enjoy the view, perhaps a drink there. There are regular buses which stop just outside and the train station is a decent 20 min walk A few good bars and restaurants nearby but there are so many more in the old town to enjoy. Recommend a train journey to Iseo and Lecco

Upon my arrival I was greeted by a lovely lady with a smile. Lovely family run hotel. Staff is very professional and helpful. A big THANK you to Riccardo - he is such a pleasant, well mannered young man. He went out of his way to drop me the local place for dinner (I arrived late in the evening) and also dropped me to the city centre next morning (I had to get a train). He is for sure a great asset to the team! Location is very good, close to the airport and city centre. Room was clean and comfy. It's a quiet area (did not hear any planes passing by as mentioned in other reviews), so I had a very good sleep. I did not have a breakfast but there are a lot of places nearby to get it. I will definitely return as I promised I have to meet the famous uncle Luca for some wine tasting! :)

Not worth the hassle!

Reviewed By Stuart93A

Overall, I think, an establishment run for the convenience of the owners not the guests. The first thing you need to know is that this is not a proper hotel - or even an Inn. It's merely a collection of unsupervised rooms. So no welcome, nowhere to store luggage, no reception, no restaurant, no bar, no breakfast, no communal areas and crucially no on-site support to guests. The communications from the hotel say 'the property has reception' twice a day - but this is untrue. And when the safe doesn't work, or there's no water pressure for a shower or the sink is blocked (all of which happened to us) there's no-one there to help. (Of course, you could make an international call, resulting in further cost and delay.) The rooms are nice and the location is central, but this didn't compensate for the other failings and the hassle of an over-elaborate online check-in system (with a major mistake in the billing - yet another international call to correct this).
