The Green Dragon

We are a large pub in the centre of the beautiful North Yorkshire town of Bedale. We became new landlord and landlady of the Green Dragon September 2021 and since taking over all seven of our guest bedrooms have been fully refurbished to a high standard and are all individually decorated. As well As serving a good range of cask ales and lagers we also serve food seven days a week either in the bar area or in our dining room .

Wished the room could have been bigger

Booked via Booking.com. Met on arrival found no dinner as kitchen closed at 5pm on a Sunday. Breakfast was excellent and very large. Checked the other two rooms on our floor, they were empty of guests and bigger than our room. Very comfortable, if small bed, with great choice of pillows.

The Three Coopers

A big welcome from Rob and Sara in our traditional style pub offering real ales and good food. Families and pets accomodated for in the bar but not in the rooms. AA rated 3 star

Adequate for our two night stay

Reviewed By D6488AFjohna

Comfortable and below the average price, but needs a bit of TLC. The breakfast was very good with a big selection of food including a full English. The room we had was clean and beds comfortable. A bit of R&M was required in the en-suite on the shower door and wash basin.

What a quality place The Woodman is, the minute you arrive you are greeted by friendly staff who cannot do enough for you. The room we had was lovely and very comfortable. We had an evening meal which was superb, and the breakfast was just as impressive, thoroughly enjoyable stay, as I mentioned the staff couldn’t do enough for us, would highly recommend if you are in the area, or fancy a couple of nights away. Thank you The Woodman, we will definitely be back.

Superb Breakfast, Room Could Be Better

Reviewed By W2746ILkatep

Superb breakfast. Sausages, from a local butcher, were the best we had ever tasted. Attractive pub. Pleasant staff. The bedroom & bathroom were very dusty in 'less visible areas'. Housekeeping need to be a lot more thorough. 2 out of 3 bathroom lights didn't work & some black grout in the bathroom. Bed was comfortable. Plenty of hot water. Pretty courtyard garden which was slightly spoilt by dog poo.

Beautiful Elmfield Lodge

Reviewed By Paradise43090992366

My wife and I stayed in Elmfield lodge which is the self contained 1 bedroom cottage attached to the main farm house. We had our 4month old baby with us. This is a stunning place. The location is ideal for exploring the dales with Bedale, Richmond, Hawes, Leyburn and many more a short drive away. There are lovely walks right from the doorstep also. There is a lovely lake set in their own woodland. Beautiful. The host Kirsty is absolutely lovely and couldn’t have been more welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. We even got to see some of the Wensleydale lambs up close with Kirsty. The cottage itself is lovely and cosy. It’s extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need and was spotlessly clean. The bed was super comfortable and the views over the grazing fields were to die for. We will be back time and time again. 100%.
