Top 10 Hostels hotel in Venice, Italy

April 27, 2023 Trinity Boughner

For centuries Venice has been defined by its otherworldly presence. Divided into six sestieri (districts), the city is split by the Grand Canal, snaking through Venice in a backwards “S” formation. Water here is a means of communication, connecting its parts as well as opening the city to the outside world. People move themselves and cargo by foot and boats of all types. A city of great contrasts, the strength and beauty of Venice are perpetually challenged by its great fragility – constant study, repair, resourcefulness, and vigilance maintain a very delicate balance here.

Generator Venice

Generator Venice stands on the waterfront of the island of Giudecca, one shortstop on the Vapporetto from Piazza San Marco. Our Venice hotel was originally a warehouse, so the building blends history and character with contemporary design features. Inside the hotel, you’ll find luxurious mosaic floors, a glass chandelier, and an imposing stone fireplace. Public spaces are subtly split into intimate and open-plan areas – all surrounding the bar and cafe. Every room has a view of either the gardens, Lido, Grande Canal, or the iconic San Marco. Not bad, eh? -- Please note that due to the global pandemic, some venues, amenities, and services may have been eliminated or scaled down for the safety of our guests and staff. Please contact the hotel should you have any questions or concerns.

Obscenely Expensive, Beware of hidden costs

Reviewed By Curious655880

Will cost you €7 everytime you want to get on the island or leave the island unless you buy day/week travel pass. Charged €135 for one night to have a locker with a broken lock so couldn’t leave personal belongings in room when going out, people drinking alcohol outside reception on hostel furniture and being loud until after 1am in the morning preventing me from sleeping, broken lock on toilet door, broken items in shower and unhelpful staff. Beware, advice stay on main island with a local company/person and avoid this chain. They don’t care about your well being just taking your money!

Foresteria Valdese Venezia

The Foresteria Valdese is one of the guest houses of the Waldensian and Methodist Church in Italy. We are a non-profit making guest house: our mission is to create value to our customers and the income is used to fund and sustain social projects in Italy and in the world for youth and elderly people. The house is just few minutes away from St. Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge. It offers to its guests a warm and welcoming environment in a typical eighteenth century palace and it is a perfect starting point to visit such a magic city as Venice is. The Foresteria offers bed and breakfast accommodation for singles, couples, families and groups. No AC, we have fans in the rooms. Some rooms are with canal view and some are decorated with frescoes. We have bedrooms for 1/2/3/4 people and family rooms for 6/8/9 people. They all have either ensuite or private bathrooms. Breakfast hall is also available for your own picnic, you can use 2 fridges and 1 microwave. Concert hall is also available for conferences. Every 5 days we change the linen. Some rooms have TV, and there is a TV in 2nd floor near the children corner. Hairdryer is present in many rooms or is available in reception.

Lovely Hotel/Hostel with Canal View

Reviewed By Mmabesa

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. After reading other reviews and seeing photo's of other rooms, it would have been a real treat to receive a room with delicate fresco's. Our room was plain, clean, 2 single beds pushed together on the 3rd floor . . a very narrow winding staircase to get to the room. We had a wonderful view of the canal, and I'm glad we did. We took a water taxi to our stop, and had quite a walk to get to the hotel over bridges, and lots' of stairs. My husband used his phone to GPS and follow streets to arrive at the hotel. The hotel itself is charming, there is a grand piano and seating on the second floor I believe it was. We were fortunate to experience a piano solo on evening, a lovely young woman was performing and it was truly amazing. The breakfast room is community style, full of long community tables and beautiful china cabinets and furniture make it homey. There is a seating area if you want to relax and books to read. The breakfast is moderate but adequate, and we did not have a problem with it knowing we would be enjoying a excellent Venetian lunch during our day. Rolls, jams, cream cheese, cereal, yogurt, coffee, tea, juice and the like. There is a community fridge for all to use if you wanted to supply food/snacks of your own. There were student groups there, and a variety of tourists. There is no air conditioning but the fan worked fine and cooled the room. There is a bit of construction going on outside, we stayed on a weekend and was not affected by it, but they were working on it when we checked out. I would recommend this hotel, it is off the beaten path, and unlike some other reviews we found it quiet and comfortable. From this hotel we were able to enjoy all the charm of the restaurants and shops. We enjoyed our stay here, it was a recommended to us which was a big part of our decision to stay.

“Just like home! Loved my stay, great location & wonderful staff!”

Reviewed By learn2fly711

I REALLY enjoyed my stay at the Casa Linger! The pictures in the description do not do the hostel justice, it I so nice! The bunk room I was in was recently remodeled & the historical touches kept in place of the 600 year old wooden beams! The bed was comfortable, new heating, new tiled bathroom, new fully functioning kitchen with an oven too, lockers with your own key (no extra charge) and very clean! Good internet signal, excellent communication with the staff who were very helpful. I liked that there is a door code to the front entrance, so that you can come and go easily. There is a key to your bunk room, very secure. It was a very comfortable 'like home' stay for me! Once you find your way around, the public water taxi's drop right off at "Aresenal" from either airport. "ACTV or Alilaguna" are economic (15 euro one way)! Nearby the hostel area is a post office, self service laundry and market/grocery store. (in the direction away form San Marco.) Highly recommended!! Just a heads up for people with knee problems. The stairs are very steep (no elevator) it is a wonderful 600 hundred year old building that is super strong & historical. No complaints...just a heads up! :-)

Worth the price

Reviewed By 422551Greese

I stay with my friend for two nights and everything was great. The room is clean and no smell. Coffee in a vending machine at the hotel taste good. Quite small room but we go outside to visit other places in Venice all day anyway. The receptionist is friendly and helpful. A restaurant is nearby. For ones who have limited budget, this hotel is a good choice. We enjoy our trip in Venice and will visit again.

Hostel Biennale

Welcome to the newest hostel in Venice, Italy. Our property is only 5-minute walk away from Piazza San Marco and is located between the two main pavilions of the Biennale (the arsenal and gardens). Our rooms are comfortable and cozy and we always want to make sure that our guests fell like home.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff

Reviewed By Tina G

Stayed in this hostel in company of three friends while visiting Architecture Biennale in Venice. Not only that this hostel has a perfect location for Biennale visitors but also has a stunning view from a rooftop terrace. Rooms were average but clean and great for the price we paid. We were lucky to experience one of hostel’s rooftop terrace parties where staff generously brought Italian food, wine and music. Can’t express how surprised and grateful we were for this lovely and relaxing evening on the terrace with a great view and friendly company. Will be definitely back next year for Art Biennale. Thank you!

I'm very glad I chose to stay here! The place is very clean, very simple but meets everything you'd expect in a Backpacker style hostel! I stayed for a week and it was just comfortable. A great place to meet other travellers! There's a kitchen you can use, and the staff is very friendly and helpful! Showed me the best places for a night out in Venice. Loved the location! Great price (best I found!) I'm confident that I will return.

Worse than possible

Reviewed By dianavQ8024DM

First of all.. at 10 degrees Celsius during an October night, considering the humidity, you should have working heating. My partner and I both got very sick staying here. Secondly, there was no toilet paper OR soap half the time I went to the bathroom. It smells. It smells very badly of mold, to a level of health concern. The promised WiFi connection was not available in our room or anywhere past the reception. And finally, ZERO Covid-19 rules were followed. No one was asked to wear a mask, people coughed and sneezing in all common areas, care-free. Also.... THE BED IS SO ITCHY, AND NOW SO ARE ALL MY CLOTHES! Is this place ever legal to run...? These are the bare minimum basics. If I could rate it with a minus, I would. Sh**hole.

Worst place I've ever visited

Reviewed By boldka

To get to this place you have to take your suitcase on a river boat with a que of 40 minutes and then we lugged it in busy crowds for an hour we got to the airport at 9 and got to the room at 1:00 which is really sad. This room is like a hostel I'd never be cheap and get a cheaper room again. You share a bathroom and the bathroom has a broken shower and water pressure is bad. You have to play with the boiler to get warm water. Towels was dirty, room was generally clean, no air conditioned as advertised. We was hassled to pay city tax and cleaning room services when it was not advertised they are scam artists at the finest, who wouldn't let us check out after one day. Please save your pennies and don't come to this awful room. It is not a hotel or house. It is full of the owners belongings, laptops, etc. And then a family's luggage was in our room and the man who gave our keys chucked it out and said we're in here not them. How awful.

Avoid this place

Reviewed By Samir S

Avoid this place at any cost. Room is bad and dirty. And the bed is a nightmare. In a hot summer they had a cooler which blew hot air from behind which nullified the cool air from front. Room and shared bathroom stinks. No reception so if you arrive you have to call her and wait, and if international traveller without local sim then just wait. The only positive point is the location but there are many hotels nearby with far better features and quality. Book somewhere else.
