Amazing location right on the waterfront with fantastic scenery. Plenty to do on the water. We brought our own kayaks and canoe but there is a facility that hires on the doorstep or you can private hire a motorised boat or view the lakes on several ferries a stones throw away.

Easy going hostel in a beautiful location!

We stayed for 3 nights with our dog in the camping area of this hostel, using the facilities to self-cater and co-work during the day, exploring in the evenings. The staff were friendly, the area is very beautiful with a great view over Windermere lake and the WiFi is good enough for remote working (though it dropped a few times over the day). Would happily stay again!

Staff were very helpful and smiley. Lots of parking on site. Although the hostel description said Free WiFi is available in shared social spaces I was able to get the WiFi in the dorm I stayed in. This is the first hostel I have stayed in that I want to stay at again.

Amazing

Reviewed By Dutchdorien

We had a great time at Helvellyn youthhostel with very friendly, welcoming and knowledgable staff. The place is clean, tidy, and the spotless selfcatering kitchen had the basics we needed. There is choice of different areas to chill, and personally I loved the allowance of cafe users and selfcateters to mix. In some hostels this is seperate and I have always found this unnecessary, undignified and annoying. Helvellyn is a great base for walking, running, and in our case: excellent spots nearby for swimming and paddleboarding. Thank you for a fab break!

Great facility as expected from YHA

I was camping but had full use of all facilities in the hostel - drying room, toilets, showers, kitchen and lounge. The camper's shower was hot and powerful. The kitchen was well stocked but quite small for the number of guests. The lounge was cosy but lacking in power points. Lots of great walks around and lovely cafes in the village. Our first time, and it was lovely. Really friendly and felt like home! The food is also delicious, we ordered two vegan evening meals and they were both amazing. The village is tiny, just a pub, cafe and bowling green, and a bus stop. We'll definitely be back!
