Top 10 Horseback Riding Tours in Virginia, United States

January 18, 2022 Sheron Bogner

Virginia can make American history come alive. Visit Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, tour Civil War battlefields, explore the living history museum at Williamsburg… the possibilities are endless (if the kids object, break up the historical sightseeing with a visit to Busch Gardens). Arlington, site of Arlington National Cemetery, is just across the Potomac River from all the major sites in D.C. In addition to beaches and historical attractions, Virginia has plenty to offer outdoor enthusiasts. Active families will love the Blue Ridge Highlands, where hiking, canoeing and tubing are just a few of the activities offered. Couples might enjoy a romantic mountain cabin in Virginia after a day of hiking in Shenandoah National Park.

My husband i visited during our vacation to the shenandoah Valley. We were both rather nervous, but the team did a wonderful job at making sure we were comfortable. We did the walk and trot, which was amazing!!! I highly suggest it. The team even provided us private ride. My husband is a pretty big guy, and they made sure he had a horse the would fit him. He feel absolutely in love with Tonto and couldn't stop talking him on our drive home. I had Colorado, who was his brother. It was definitely a match made in heaven. I highly suggest adding them to your agenda when in the area. And bring cash, because you are definitely going to want to tip. The guides are very friendly and knowledgeable, and ensure you are comfortable the whole ride. We will see definitely be back.

Jennifer and her team provided a safe and fun experience for my wife and I, along with two other riders. The farm is filled with wonders, from beautiful horses and ponies to goats and fowl. Our ride consisted of half open fields and the other half through a forest. The horses were very suited to all types of riders.

Absolutely wonderful ride in places off the beaten path. There had been overnight snow and we had a magical ride through an untouched winter wonderland with the snow. Our group of 4 included someone not comfortable on horses and our guide could not have been better, leading the horse and allowing her to complete the entire 2 hours. The views were beautiful. Next time I'll do the 3 hour trip! Highly recommend.

This was by far one of the most incredible experiences we have had. We brought our daughter and three of her friends to ride ponies. They went above and beyond in teaching the girls, being patient with them, and giving them memories that will last forever. If you are looking for a place to go for a trail ride or lessons for younger riders this is the place. Bev is incredible as are all of the instructors. Charlotte was an angel and they were all so knowledgeable and patient! Can’t wait to go back!
