We picked up our car and once we were surgically implanted, we were off! We followed the pre destined GPS route. What fun, but not for the faint hearted driver! From the looks and expressions from pedestrians and other drivers, you would think that we had just landed from the planet Zod! We felt like minor celebrities! But do not be put off - electric cars are the future for city Travel! Next came lunch at Chez Lapin. Food was great, plenty of it and the staff were attentive. The boat trip was informative and relaxing and the visit to the Port Museum (and subsequent glass) gave a glimpse into a bygone age. Tremendous value for money.

Having been classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and often considered the best wine region in the world, the Alto Douro Vinhateiro, more than a breathtaking landscape, is a history. The wine production in this region dates back to the Roman Empire and this tradition has survived until now, producing now the famous wines of Porto and Douro. Taking a trip to this region is to take a cultural trip, accompanying the whole process of wine, which is intrinsically part of what it means to be Portuguese. We invite you to spend a day dazzling a unique and divine Valley, visiting one of the famous farms where the wine is produced, accompanying the best part of the course of the river Douro.

Highly recommend this 4-hour tour. Our guide - Ms. Roza Jedrzejko - was very knowledgeable about the complex history and culture of the Jewish population of Porto that dates back to the 1100s. While we toured the former Jewish quarters, Roza “pointed out” places of interest; many that no longer exist ("the hidden synagogue".) The highlight was a visit to the very active Mekor Haim, Porto’s Synagogue, the largest in the Iberian peninsula. When booking, be sure to check whether synagogue will be open on tour day.
