Finally got around to booking (essential) in for the tour and was not disappointed, the rooms are so small that only a few people can be accommodated on each tour! Our guide was well informed and gave a very humourous guided tour During the 90 minute tour there are lots of narrow doorways and steep stairs, both up and down, to negotiate so you do need to be able bodied You are introduced to the ever changing history of the properties and its occupants with fascinating description of their lives and businesses There are lots of objects to see and handle to help you get a fuller picture of life in the back to back housing of the times There is a small museum to view and a visit to the sweet shop on the corner is an absolute must Please make sure to book so as not to be dissapointed when you are turned away, as all tours are fully booked, if you turn up on spec!

15/12/18. Victory Pub Christmas Jolly Boys outing at the Victoria Tunnel. A thoroughly enjoyable and educational history tour of this amazing engineering feat of the 1840s. 2 fantastic volunteer guides. Fascinating facts about the tunnel's original use and later use during World War 2 as an air raid shelter for up to 9,000 people. Highly recommended.

We’ve always said we should go to see the Tower but have never got there. This time we did! Bought the tickets online and decided not to do the Beefeater tour glad we made that decision as the crowds were so big and we felt we’d not hear enough. We opted for the audio guides which we found very useful. So amazing to walk in the footsteps of all those historical people (I’ve probably read too much Hilary Mantel, Philippa Gregory, David Starkey and CJ Sansom!) Moved to see the red roses by the Chapel altar, as we’d just passed the anniversary of Anne Boleyn’s beheading. The whole place was clean, tidy and a credit to the people who care for these amazing palaces. Even the cafe. Well worth the entry charge, so glad we went and would do it again. Big tip get there early! Thank you

We visited Winchester Cathedral today and can throughly recommend the 1 hour guided tour, it gave great insights into the history and stories behind this beautiful Cathedral and our tour guide Lorraine Estelle was wonderful and definitely deserves a special mention ..

First visit to this historic building and I was not disappointed ! The free audio guide is a must brilliant commentary from Jeremy irons provides fascinating insight and history into this incredible building . Stunning architecture and sculptures fill every corner. Parts of the building are not easy accessible narrow passage ways and steps are not easy for anyone with walking difficulties ! Helpful friendly staff and easy distance from Westminster tube station make it a must if you are in London

We have just returned from an absolutely phenomenal weekend staying in the grounds of Dover Castle. From the tunnel tours to the Great Tower steeped in history, to the views across the English Channel and the access to the grounds before and after hours we were totally blown away and awestruck. A special mention to all the staff throughout our stay who were friendly, informative, helpful, enthusiastic and passionate about such an incredible place . Not forgetting Lesley the housekeeper who ensured our stay was spot on. An absolute credit to English heritage and Dover Castle. We will most definitely be returning. Highly recommend.

We were kept fully interested for 3 and a half hours .. this was so informative and even our teenagers were engaged the whole time.. Loved every part of this history tour.. you see Churchill map room, his sleeping quarters, the tiny kitchen, and the phone room.. and loads more.. can't imagine how hard what they all had to do in such small quarters.. well done Chuchhill and team..

Highclare is a terrific place to visit - really well organised, super friendly & informative guides, gift shop with quality and fairly priced items, and wonderful maintained grounds and gardens. In today’s ever more irritating Covid World, all necessary safety measures were in place without being intrusive or restrictive to our visit. Highclare itself is beautifully presented, with a balance of family history alongside Downton Abbey lore. Cannot rate highly enough.

Set in the picturesque Shibden valley, a mile from Halifax, Shibden Hall dates back to 1420 and offers visitors a fascinating journey through the lives of the people who lived and worked here. Such a wonderful place. Large well kept and interesting grounds (ancient orchard too) that you could easily spend hours in and then you have the hall and informative lovely folk museum. An extensive and educational interior especially regarding Anne Lister. A big thank you too to the very friendly volunteers who do an exceptional job! Well worth a visit.
