Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park

This state park, established in 1923, is part of the Redwoods National and State Park System.

We had a wonderful time hiking through this park. We hiked about 13 miles along the Miner’s Ridge Trail, Gold Bluffs Beach, Fern Canyon, and back via the James Irvine Trail. It was a tough long hike with lots of climbing but worth it. The views were amazing and the photos were beautiful.

Avenue of the Giants

Reviewed By radar60 - Lompoc, United States

Avenue of the giants is a stunning 32 mile scenic drive through magnificent redwoods and meandering eel river vistas. Plenty of groves where you can stop and go for a hike to admire Mother Nature’s incredible beauty. We stopped by the drive through tree but our vehicle ( VW Atlas ) was too wide. Still a drive worthwhile taking.

Easy to get to and an easy stroll through a very beautiful grove of old growth redwoods. A piece of history that could have easily been lost , but has been preserved in this grove.

Patrick's Point State Park

A little-known state park that offers a re-creation of a Yurok village, campsites and hiking trails to fine beaches.

Reviewed By northernneckinn - Tappahannock, United States

You can’t find a better hike than the rim trail through the Redwoods and mostly in the shade with amazing vistas of turbulent ocean and crashing waves appearing from time to time. Make sure you visit Wedding Rock and climb the stairs to the rock outpost overlooking the northern Californian coast! $7 for one vehicle and two people! Great value!

Lost Coast Trail

Reviewed By ScottM3845

The drive certainly is difficult and long, the hiking arduous and not for the faint of heart. The scenery, the wildlife, the surf, the creeks, the camping, the night sky, the company, the whole experience, is one I will look back on as one of the best in my life. Give yourself time to enjoy the experience, an extra day, if you can. Talk with or reference someone who has done the trip previously and use their suggestions for a wonderful journey into Northern California’s truly wild Lost Coast. The questions below don’t really apply...give yourself 4 or 5 days.

Moonstone Beach

Reviewed By ngremmy - Yuba City, United States

This beach is very clean and dog friendly! We enjoyed the calm and shallow shoreline with our kiddo and family. There are a few small caves on the north end of the beach along with some really neat sandstone/conglomerate rock faces. If you are looking for shells or rocks, this is not the place to look. If you are looking for a small quiet beach that is relatively safe for young ones to get their feet wet at, this is a great choice!

The Victorian Village of Ferndale

Amazing town with a feeling it has been lost. We were there on a Sunday morning around 10 during the Covid19 pandemic, So I am not sure if it is like that always but no crowds and just locals out going for brunch. Amazing collection of buildings and it seems that the Meat Market is still a butchers founded in 1909.

Fernbridge Historic Bridge

Reviewed By Dominquie - Croft, United Kingdom

This old Bridge has withheld everything that nature has thrown at it. It amazing when you go over it that it survived the great flood of 1964 in which the Eel river actually went over the bridge. You cross this bridge when going to the Victorian Village of Ferndale. This bridge has also been in the move Outbreak. Just a nice old bridge that has stood the test of time.
