On our second day, of a week of Irish golf, we played The Island Golf Club.. This is a true links course, right on the Irish sea, and absolutely beautiful.. We were fortunate enough to be able to play 36 holes on this day.. we walked all 36.. This course is challenging, but fun to play.. Paul in the pro shop, Steve and Dave made us feel welcome and gave us some tips on how to play this course...We finished with a late lunch and found it to be outstanding.. This would be #1 on my list of courses to recommend when playing golf in the Dublin area.. Thanks to all who made this a great experience

Footee - FootGolf in Ireland

Footee is the newest and coolest top class novelty sports game that blends two of the world's best and most popular sports - football and golf. Footee is the original and best Footgolf course in Ireland. Footgolf is a competitive, skilful and addictive sports game that mixes the passion and strength of football with the elegance and tradition of golf. Footgolf is played on a golf course by individuals or in groups but instead of swinging golf clubs and hitting golf balls, players kick footballs. The game rules are identical to golf - each hole carries a par and the aim of the game is to get the football into the (bigger) hole on each green in as few shots as possible. Situated in Tallaght, just 30 minutes from Dublin City and less than 5 minutes from the M50, Footee is for people of all ages and fitness levels, males and females, young and old. Opening hours: Apr 1st - Oct 31st, 7 days a week, 10am - 7pm Nov 1st - Mar 31st, Saturdays & Sundays only, 11am - 3pm (but will open midweek for group bookings)

Portmarnock Golf Club

Within a picturesque curve of coastline, 10 miles to the north of Dublin City and only a 15-minute drive from Dublin Airport, Portmarnock Golf Club sits majestically on a narrow tongue of shallow duneland. And as a measure of its enduring quality, it remains one of the most respected venues in world golf. No other Irish course has been graced by so many distinguished players in a rich history encompassing a broad sweep of significant events. It is where Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead successfully followed its serpentine route through classic linkland on their way to victory in the 1960 Canada Cup. And it is where another generation of Americans, including Phil Mickelson and David Duval, secured a memorable Walker Cup triumph in 1991. These events, along with 19 stagings of the European Tour's Irish Open Championship, reflect the quality of a searching examination across the link's twenty-seven holes. We look forward to warmly welcoming you to play our Championship links.

My son and I played here last September(sorry for the delay) in what was going to be a member guest with two players he had hosted at his club, Philly Cricket. The event happened to coincide with our last day in Ireland after playing 8 rounds on 7 courses. Unfortunately, the weather(tail end of a hurricane/windstorm) that the event was called off but we got the chance to go out in a foursome. The course was wonderful! Very different from the Island where we played 9 holes in the morning. Here the dunes surround the course and offer some(????) protection from the wind and the dunes also keep the sea from flooding the course. Thankfully, playing with two members allowed us to understand the best lines to play including taking the wind into consideration. I can see how the course has held so many important golf events. We both enjoyed our round!

Stunning! Count myself so lucky to have played this magical course ( Druid’s Glen) kept in immaculate condition throughout. Beautiful surroundings, mature trees, flowering bushes, water ???? and spectacular views. Uplifting for the soul even if the course won ( easily) on the day. A special word of thanks to Patrick Geraghty PGA who sorted out some of my swing problems the following day...... he is very reassuring, easy to understand, sorts the problem and had me back on track very quickly. Highly recommended.
