Marilyn & Melrose Lifestyle Boutique

*PLEASE NOTE ~ CURRENTLY CLOSED DUE TO COVID LOCKDOWN* 'Click & Collect' and Website Purchases available. Marilyn & Melrose is an Interiors & Lifestyle shop, based in the beautiful castle town of Alnwick, in Northumberland. We opened the shop in August 2012, introducing the North East to the wonders of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™, painted furniture, up-cycling and of course …. fantastic Craft Workshops. We moved to new premises on Narrowgate in Alnwick and the shop has evolved into a lifestyle store, largely because we listened to our customers, and also because it was a natural progression. When you visit us, you will find a vast array of many beautiful items for your home …. soft furnishings, furniture, craft items, haberdashery, scented candles, beautiful jewellery, mind body and spirit items …. and clothes too. There are three floors of loveliness for you to explore. You can be assured of a very warm welcome and four-legged friends are welcome too. Best wishes from us both. xx

This is a lovely, friendly local shop with a wide range of high quality products to purchase. They are constantly getting in new items and have fantastic displays. I often pop in for a browse and always end up coming away with something that has caught my eye. My most recent purchase has been some new plant pots to add to my collection. The customer service in Marilyn and Melrose is exceptional. ????

House of Hardy Fishing Tackle Museum

The House of Hardy Museum displays a variety of fishing tackle and associated products which were manufactured by Hardy's from the very beginning of the business in 1872 right up to the present day current products being manufactured today. The museum is not just a celebration of all things relating to Hardy's but of British manufacturing at its very best. The "Perfect" display cabinet is testament to a British design from the late 1800's which is still in production today! Guided Museum tours are now available at 11:00 and 14:00 daily.

The Old School Gallery

Based in a beautiful old school building, we have a unique and inspiring collection of affordable art and prints by artists from Northumberland and further afield. We are always sourcing pictures that would look great in the home – we hope you like them too! You can take it all in whilst you enjoy a delicious fresh coffee and a tasty homemade cake in our gallery coffee shop.

We went to the gallery coffee shop to have a late morning break and discovered an amazing array of artwork for sale. There were pictures both framed and just matted. There were calendars, mugs, coasters, books, pottery, and jewelry. The price range was from very reasonable to very expensive, but there was such a wide array, that you are likely to find something to your taste and in your budget range. A lucky find for sure.
