September 27, 2021 Harland Bartelt

Transylvania is a historical region in today's central Romania. Bound on the east and south by its natural borders, the Carpathian mountain range, historical Transylvania extended westward to the Apuseni Mountains. The term sometimes encompasses not only Transylvania proper, but also the historical regions of Crișana and Maramureș, and occasionally the Romanian part of Banat.

Due to the current covid situation, I had a private tour that day, which was awesome. Mathias was a great guide, has a lot of general Romanian knowledge along with historical. This made for great conversation on the way to and from the castles. I highly recommend the tour and would gladly do it again with friends and family in the future.

We had an exceptional experience traveling from Bucharest to Sibiu, on to Brasov, and returning to Bucharest. Our guide, Catalin, did an amazing job explaining history to us and answering our questions. The highlight was the visit to Dracula's Castle on Halloween, but the whole trip was one highlight after another.

The tour exceeded all expectations. The tour guide was very knowledgable and courteous. The locations highlighted in the tour were extremely interesting not to say anything about the fun at the Halloween parties. If you have never been to Romania, this is an excellent first trip. Accomodations were good and the daily travel not too overbearing. Great Time!!!

This tour combines sightseeing with history and culture. If your time in Brasov is limited you can tick two very important boxes of Transylvania by visiting the Bran (Dracula) Castle and the Transfagarasan highway in the same day. While you can visit Bran 365 days per year, the mountain road is only open a few months during the summer and autumn. During the Transfagarasan day trip we drive close to the altitude of 2050 meters above sea level. On the road we stop at the Balea Waterfall. Here we check out the souvenir shops and taste some of the local snacks. At the Balea Lake we can have a proper lunch, after we hike around the lake. More souvenirs are available here too. Other short stops for spectacular roadside landscapes are also included. The Bran Castle tour is done either at the start or at the end of the day, depending on the day of the week.

Inclusions: Air-conditioned vehicle, Bottled water, Licensed Tour Guide, Parking Fees

Exclusions: Bran Castle entrance fee (40 ron) isn't included.

I booked this within 2 hours of the start of the tour on my last day in Belgrade and it was absolutely worth it. My guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and thorough. He even took me to the airport at the end so that I could catch my flight. You know it was a good tour when you feel like you’re leaving the city too soon.

Very enjoyable day for us all. The tour was well paced and the perfect blend of diverse sights and varied landscapes, Adrian was extremely knowledgable and really opened our eyes with some fantastic insights and anecdotes on the history of Romania, and much more. It wasn't information heavy at all, we had lots of laughs too. We would definitely recommend The Fixers for anyone who wishes to explore the beautiful sights of Romania outside of Bucharest.
