Can you break into the world’s most heavily guarded vault?

Our family (with an 11 and 15 year old) has become obsessed with escape rooms. We love puzzles and being challenged and pride ourselves on having escaped all but one room (one of our first) and we’ve done almost 15 including Florida, Michigan, UK, and now Amsterdam. The two rooms here, The Architect and The Vault, are by far the best rooms we’ve ever done! After escaping The Architect (with barely over a minute to spare), we even changed our train departure to be able to do The Vault. It did not disappoint! Things we loved: Clear story even including some role playing by the hosts to really feel immersive. Huge rooms with a lot of atmosphere making it feel real and more exciting. The location is so cool and makes incredible use of the old building it’s in. Great puzzles with a wide range of types so you aren’t just unlocking 50 combination locks to escape. (We’ve done rooms like that and it gets very annoying and boring quickly). Puzzles that really force the team to work together even doing different things to ensure everyone is involved. Hosts that really make you feel a part of something special (the young gentleman who hosted us on July 19th at 10am for the Vault was absolutely FANTASTIC and we had a blast working with him. I wish I would have gotten his name so I could include it here.). Location is easy to get to in the center of Amsterdam. Cons: Only one: they only have two rooms. ???? I really can’t say enough good things about this place. If you like puzzles, like to be challenged, and want a great time then come here!

We tried it for a company team building event in Lisbon and even though some of us were quite familiar with the surroundings, the app would surprise us with beautiful walks, while exposing some of Lisbon's many hidden gems. It was just about the right duration (2h) and difficulty level to keep the team excited and some silly interpretations going ;D After this experience, I think it's worth considering a replacement of the standard "best things to do" search here on TripAdvisor, with a "I want to be Indiana Jones" on Secret City Trails.

I booked a 30-minute session for 4. After a thrilling 5-minute training session which included walking a plank off the top of a skyscraper and flying around mountains, we played two games - archery as a team protecting a castle from attacking ogres, and 2v2 shooting. The archery game was a real hit for us. It felt very realistic and immersive. Would definitely try again next time we visit Amsterdam.

For our new joiners we wanted to organize a fun event after their onboarding. From one of our colleagues we heard about the 100 point challenge game. After a nice and informative talk with Dan Paech we planned our first event. On the day itself the weather was perfect. The group was around 25 people divided into 5 groups. The game was super fun, challenging, competitive and a nice way to learn you way around the city even if you have lived here for some time already. Looking forward to our next event hosted by the 100 point challenge game! :)

TonTon Club Centrum

At the beating heart of the Red Light District, behind the Old Church, hidden between the ladies of pleasure, you'll find the TonTon Club Centre. The arcade hall of Amsterdam of which the motto is "to create and recreate". Imagine yourself beating your best friend at Mortal Kombat, playing the pin-ball machine until your fingers hurt, practicing for your driving exam with Mario Kart while drinking a pint and enjoying a freshly made taco. That's the TonTon Club.

To sum it up - games and drinks! Brilliant. We came here for my wife’s birthday and it was good fun. Beware, it gets busy in the evening! The tokens were 6 for €5 and a token will get you one play on any of the games. There’s lots of choice and some cool board games. Everything is a bit sticky, but to be expected when it’s as busy as it was.
