Top 10 Free Things to do in Niagara Falls, Canada

March 7, 2022 Jacquiline Darosa

Once a destination for honeymoons and family vacations, Niagara Falls has really stepped it up as an action-packed vacation spot. The falls are literally the biggest draw – watching the frothy water tumble at alarming speeds can be mesmerizing. Throw on a poncho and hop aboard the Maid of the Mist to cruise close enough to the falls to be drenched by spray. Hit the main strip of Clifton Hill for flashy tourist attractions and restaurants galore.

We went in the cold of winter, and thanks to jet lag were there really early to watch the beautiful sunrise over the falls. It was a magical, quiet morning, with great views and we really enjoyed our time at the falls - the sheer power of the water is something else! Another place ticked off the list, excellent!

We drove through here and did not stay. We wanted to go for a hike and it was more of a gentle walk through the park - but absolutely beautiful. Parking is not free. I'd recommend it if you are looking for nice views and a gentle walk. If you're trying to be a bit more adventurous I would head down to Niagara Falls Glen Trail.

This park is right in front of the American Waterfalls. It’s a lovely park, well taken care of. In fact while I was there, they were cutting the grass and other personnel took care of the plants and flowers. They even have a lovely fountain and an alleyway where we can find a place to sit and enjoy the view. Behind the alleyway, there is a pond with a bridge. I liked walking among trees on both sides of me. That was cool! I was able to see the Falls from here. The flowers were amazing here, right in downtown Niagara Falls! Wow! It’s a must to see to see this lovely park.
