Wensleydale Longwool Sheep Shop are located in Leyburn, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales where we sell our 100% pure finest lustre Wensleydale yarns in Aran, DK and 4 Ply plus knitting patterns, hand knit garments and gifts. Visit our Shop located in a lane just off Leyburn Market Place (look for our sign board near the Newsagents) or see us at Wool Shows around the UK.
Ordered Wensleydale Longwool DK for a Gansey pattern designed by Martin Storey. Fabulous lady Kath organised everything so meticulously in spite of her busy schedule of shop plus many trade show commitments. Wool, 1kg of fabulous 'Fennel' colour plus other Wensleydale products such as soap, wool wash, lanolin cream etc arrived beautifully and efficiently packaged for the courier delivery. Kath deserves top star rating and a massive thank you. I recommend looking at her wool for any future knitting projects and supporting this wonderful product which also supports the rare breed sheep of Yorkshire. Buy British Wool and support these lovely sheep, from The Northern Isles south together with their guardians for the future.

This is a great walk rewarding anyone who does it some fantastic views across the Dales (weather permitting). We did it on a somewhat cloudy and blustery day but still enjoyed marvellous vies from the top. The beacon stones offer cover from the wind and rain and would provide a suitable place to picnic (you will need to take ALL LITTER back with you as there are no bins there). We decided to drive up as far as Penhill Farm (this shortened the walk but meant that we could head for the car should bad weather close in). The walk was just right for us (we are in our sixties) and for our 10 year old lab/retriever

Tucked away just off the main road in Harmby and just a few minutes walk from the nearby Caravan and Motorhome Club site, this waterfall is tucked away in a little wood. It can be viewed from the bridge above, or there is a little gate in the fence at the bottom of the ravine allowing access to the base of the fall. Well worth a visit.

The Shawl is only 2 minute's walk from the market place. You can walk as far as you like on a level path, which is easy for young children and old folk, and come back the same way or take any of the opportunities to have a circular walk involving changes in level. It's wonderful all year round but especially in spring when the bluebells & wild garlic are out. In late winter there are snowdrops. The views are stupendous, especially that over the Ure to Pen Hill on the other side of the dale.

We are an artisan chocolate maker and our purpose built factory is open to visitors - a popular tourist attraction in Leyburn. Watch our chocolatiers at work and learn all about chocolate from its history, to where it is grown and how it is made. We have example cocoa pods, beans and nibs to view as well as a film to watch and a chocolate quiz. We run workshops most weekends and holidays suitable for children and adults - try your hand at making a chocolate pizza or lolly. We also offer bookable events such as truffle and chocolate classes as well as parties. We have an on site cafe serving premium coffee, homemade cakes and savoury light bites (such as panini's etc). The cafe also has free WiFi. Our factory shop is crammed with our chocolate creations for you to browse or indulge. Together with a loose chocolate counter and a selection of giftware and hampers you are sure to find a lovely gift or special treat. Free parking, accessible facilities, toilets and nappy change.
We stumbled across Inspired Chocolate whilst in Leyburn and what a hidden gem it was - a must visit for any chocolate lovers! We were welcomed by an enthusiastic member of staff who later explained this small scale chocolate factory was owned by her husband and her. The entire process was visible to public and through glass walls with boards explaining the process, and a clear COVID-19 friendly environment. There was a number of affordable workshops from chocloate pizza making for the children to truffle making for adults. The shop offered plenty of gifts, local produce and it goes without saying plenty of chocolate varieties, i recommend the Lemon Meringue and White Chocolate and if you like Caramacs the Caramel White Chocolate is amazing - ask for a sample.

We visit the Dales several times a year and never fail to have Sunday lunch at the Fox & Hounds. Landlady Nola and her excellent team serve the most delicious roast beef with all the trimmings and a jug - no poncey gravy boat - of proper gravy. Despite Covid-19 regulations the Fox and Hounds retains its relaxed, welcoming feel. Thoroughly recommended.

I visited this lovely, friendly Church for the first time on my own after having attended with my daughter and friend for both the Christingle Service and Carols by Candlelight Service over Christmas. I have just moved to the area recently and loved the warm, friendly welcome. It's the sort of place that makes you feel at home right away and among friends! There are exciting plans ahead to develop the existing space and make it more accessible for the community! Looking forward to being part of the Church family in the future!
