Alypa Beach

Reviewed By Kanadeza

A local in Gythio suggested we visit this cove for swimming because of its crystal clear waters. We are so happy we did. It is not an organized beach so you need to bring your own beach umbrella and mats to lie down. The beach is a large pebble beach and it goes deep quickly, but the waters are clear and turquoise. It is very picturesque and typical of the region. There is a taverna on the beach.

The adventure begins when turning onto the 82 you might wanna accommodate for extra time along the route or as Charles Dickens said: “For our path in life...is stony and rugged now, and it rests with us to smooth it. We must fight our way onward. We must be brave. There are obstacles to be met, and we must meet, and crush them!”

Mavrovouni Beach

Reviewed By Spiderdog - Cheshire, United Kingdom

Visited this beach a couple of times while staying in nearby Pylos. It was recommended to us by the reception staff at our hotel. This is a beautiful long sandy beach and popular with with wind surfers. Not very busy when we were there and we were not charged for using sunbeds and umbrella. Presume they belonged to the nearby beach bar where we did buy drinks on each visit. I would happily return here for a beach based holiday and made a note of some accommodation that was next to the beach for future reference! There is also camping nearby.
