Chico's Cocktail Bar

Reviewed By janebB2536VY

During our time in Turkey, we spent several happy evenings in Chicos. Ordinarily, I do not write reviews on tripadvisor; however I felt that I simply must commend the service and friendliness in this bar. Upon arrival, this was the first bar that we came across and they assisted us greatly and recommended places for; money exchange, tours, restaurants and much more. The guys in this bar provide top quality service and the cocktails are AMAZING! I would not go anywhere else! My family and I will definitely be back! Despite the Covid-19 situation, the guys were on top form and were super friendly and upheld safety measures (ie. social distancing, hand santizer etc) at all times! It felt safer than the UK. Overall, fantastic holiday that was made better tenfold by the super friendly and helpful staff at chicos bar.

The bar (along with the accompanying restaurant and jewellery shop) is run by "Jimmy" who is Turkish and his wife Jane from Wakefield. They both made us so welcome and helped to make us aware of some of the local places to visit and good places to stay for next time. Jane was also able to help us with the Turkish language. There is a taxi rank outside and they helped to make sure the drivers understood where we wanted to go. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for the owners or the other staff members. The food was very good, we came in for a drink every day and had two evening meals here even though we were staying at an all inclusive hotel. Families with children are also very welcome, with plenty of drinks and menu choices for the under-eighteens.

Pedasa Antique City

I did everything you must not do. I imagined it would be like Mycenae or Troy (ie very very small), wrong!! - no research (just a hotel map) no water, no mobile phone, no compass. Belief me - I am fit but it would have been very easy to die in this place. We took a taxi from Bodrum, late September. There was no one manning the gate, so we drove about a mile and was dropped off at the Watch Tower where there were some people who had clearly given up at the first hill. However there were some stones coloured with white and red paint and a couple of badly faded signs. Passing several walls and strange open holes we went over the first hill, came to a large clearing and in front was a second large hill with a very steep climb and a wall visible. I left my wife at the clearing and went up the hill myself expecting it take about half an hour. I returned from the top quickly as a realised time I had taken too long. there were so many goat trails that although I started correctly (had left a maker) but I was soon lost in the trees. I never managed to find her. With the heat and thirst, I hallucinated and started to lose strength. Trying to find a path through the trees and thorn bushes was impossible but I found a dried up river bed and after going the wrong way at first, retraced my steps, climbing higher and stumbled on the stones of the some part of the city. In clearing I found some full but discarded bottle of water which I drank and then a track used by vehicles. I knew it was leading the wrong way but (correctly) followed it down to a main road at the North end of the isthmus near Torba where a kind motorcyclist took me (bloody, torn and battered) to Bodrum. The Police and a Search Team were looking for me but I never saw any one - but thank them profoundly for their efforts and hope they excuse by recklessness, My ordeal lasted 7 hours. I post this account to warn others on no account to follow by stupidity - it may be your last.

Yahsi Beach

Reviewed By TrWorldTraveler - Bloomington, United States

In the Bodrum areas, some bays are not as wide open as Ortakent yahsi beach. That is why, often times, they are not as clean as this beach. The yahsi beach is also perfect for water sports such as surfing, sailing or parasailing. Other water activities like banana, jet skis are available too. There are great ice cream shops, cafes, restaurants and shops in this bay. Our favorites are Lugga hotel, Zest hotel, Kefi beach club, bar/restaurant, Vira’s beach/restaurant, seafood restaurants near the yahsi marina and Bitez dondurma.
