This monument sort of appears out of nowhere when you are passing by the Dolac market. Really worth finding, and nice reflections when the sun is out.

Mandusevac Fountain

Reviewed By Shrek-loves-Fiona - Singapore, Singapore

Located at the main Ban Jelacic town square, this humble looking fountain which on the surface is unimpressive in appearance but the most important monument in Zagreb which have the city its name. Legend has it that a knight upon returning from battle found that the town’s source of water had all dried up. Angry and tired, he struck his sword into the ground and suddenly water sprouted out. He called upon a maiden Manda to serve him the water and so she scooped (“grab” in Croatian) the water for him to drink and hence the city’s name.
