When we visited the farm on 16 October 2019, 5 types of apples were ready to be harvested and tasted. We couldn't manage to try all 5 though, because the apples were so HUGE. We ended up tasting only 3. Keli was our guide. She explained the various characteristics of the apples (sweet, tart, etc) and showed us the proper way to pluck an apple from the tree as well as how to know if the apple was ready to be plucked. The fruits were all around the trees, so even a small child could easily pluck their own apples. From a few metres away before entering the orchard, i could smell the apples. There are tables and chairs, so I could sit down and just enjoy looking at the trees and breathe in the sweet smell of apples. Of all the apples, I love Akibae the most. So much so, i lugged a box back home. Next time I visit, I'll bring my boys as well. We definitely will be back!

Daio Wasabi Farm

Reviewed By keonann - Vancouver, Canada

Daio Wasabi farm is located just outside Matsumoto. We had a wonderful time strolling through the farm and saw how wasabi plants are grown. There's a wasabi processing room where you can see how the plants are cleaned, cut and processed. After seeing how wasabi is grown, it was time to try some "all things" wasabi, such as ice cream, beer and juice. These treats wasn't over powering unlike the shaved wasabi we had with our soba noodles.
