University of Helsinki (Helsingin Yliopisto)

Reviewed By RachtheMage - Los Angeles, United States

I'm not a student here but a tourist who loves visiting universities and library's. University of Helsinki sits firmly to the left of the Senate Square (when facing the Helsinki Cathedral). The library is the highlight of it (please correct me if I'm wrong since I only saw a very small part of the campus as a business traveler). Natural light sheds inside the library, and modern library tools are utilized. Highly recommend to visit the main library and appreciate the amazing piece of architecture. Recommend time to visit is 20 minutes in the library and 5 minutes of the main building by Senate square (not able to enter when I visited).

Turku Cathedral

We needed an easy place to visit near the city centre and this church is just few hundred meters from the centre. There was a nice park next to the church also. The church itself is beautiful both inside and outside. Inside there is a lot to see.

Helsinki University Library

Reviewed By paul_ark_2014 - Bangkok, Thailand

Had the pleasure of visiting the Helsinki University Library on a walking tour of the city, and it was the one stop I wish we could have spent more time to wander and soak in the amazing architecture. If I had a free afternoon, I would love to just settle in here and read or listen to music.

500 Million years ago a giant meteorite hit the ground and formed an impact crater size 7 kms! Now the soil is even and there are fields covering the area but it is still different from its surroundings and can be easily recognized from a plane. It is a fantastic place to visit if You suffer from a cosmic angst - Standing there in the middle I quarantee You are safe. The metorite won´t hit the place again. I promise. There are too thoudands of birds moving from north to south in fall and resting there. have you ever seen toudand of cranes, gooses or swans flying? This is probably the best chance to spot them in August in the whole Scandinavia. Climb up to the tower, take your binoclars or camera and take a look!

Situated on the pedestrian street at the hearth of Jyväskylä, the Craft Museum of Finland is easily accessible museum, which unobtrusive façade hides experiences for all senses and for all ages. The Craft Museum is a Place, where I visit again and again. The exhibitions are interesting and variable, but every time you can see something skillfully made handicrafts. Also the basic exhibition is wide and interesting. And everyone should see the finnish national costumes. I have visited the museum twice with my grandson (5years).He was very amused to look around. I did tell him what he wanted - and he wanted. And at the end of our visit, in the workshop room, he wanted to make himself a keyring. Our visit took two hours.
