Lovely weekend

Reviewed By michellebraun2022

We have stayed with Treelands before but not in this unit. It was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. The linen and bathroom were very clean and the bed was so comfortable. It was a weekend away for my boyfriends birthday but he surprised me with an engagement ring! So all in all it was a very special weekend.

Avoid this place if you can

Avoid this place if you can! This was our sixth journey to South Africa where we previously spent totally 18 weeks travelling around. This time we went together with a family of our younger son, four adults and two kids for a shorter trip lasting two weeks. The stay at Saxenburg was intended as a little luxury ending of our trip. We hired estates luxury African Sky apartment which is placed in a separate building. This containes a huge apartment with a lot of space, it was not the problem. The problem was all around with the management. We arrived to the place on a Friday afternoon at about 3 p.m. after a long drive. We found the reception but it was closed. After a phone call opened a slightly irritated lady who just pointed us the house where we would stay and informed us that the reception will be closed over the weekend. She didn’t bother to go with us for showing us around or at least she didn´t ask some from the staff to do so. We got the keys and that was all. We planned to refresh us in the pool and make a barbecue at the picnic spot outside the house. The disappointment was complete. The pool water was green and slimy, covered by fallen leaves, useless. The picnic place was a flipped rusty trough without a grid. We went back to the reception, but this time the door was equipped with the sign – closed. We tried to get help in the wine tasting room and the girl there was really helpful. Next morning came two boys to ourplace and picked up the fallen leaves from the pool and throwed some chemicals into it. It was not much help – the water was still unuseble for bathing. Last but not the least, the door leading to the backyard was not possible to close. When we wanted to check out on Sunday morning, the reception was closed. We decided to leave the keys in the wine tasting room, but we could not pay the bil there. Don´t worry, when we after homecomming checked our account, the money was withdrawen without asking us..... Avoid this place if you can!
