If you only have time for one dinner in Chongqing, it has to be Qi Qi. It deserves its fame as Chongqing's best hotpot -- and Chongqing is a capital of hotpot. Qi Qi is in the mall, and the interior is very presentable, even upscale, bright and new, with lofty semicircular booths, track lighting, plush and lacquer everywhere; the personnel is very efficient. Our base broth was flavorful, fiery and rich. The greasiness would be too much, but it is balanced by the high quality of the ingredients. There wasn't a blemish on the lettuce, the meat was healthy, everything was clean. Qi Qi's most popular ingredient is fresh eel, but I can't say I'd order it again. We liked thinly sliced lamb, mushrooms, tofu skins, potatoes and dumplings. There's infinite variety of things to cook, from shrimp on a skewer to rice balls. Garlicky sesame oil and chili flakes make excellent sauces to dip the cooked ingredients. We 'spiced out' madly on that night, but Qi Qi is so worth it.

Casial visitors will be ushered to the 2nd floor (last lunch orders by 2pm, please), and offered menus with nice photos and minimal English. The Gong Bao Jiding (Kung pao Chicken) is the best this 35 year veteran of Asian residency has encountered. The MaPo Dofu is quite good, too, and its bite quickly enhances the watery, rice-based ChongQing Beer. DanDan noodles were deemed by my wife to be over-the-top good, but I was disappointed that the white rice was served cold.Caution: the portions are LARGE; one dish per person is plenty for the American appetite.Three dishes, one (small) DanDan noodles and one bottle of beer for Rmb143.

I loved Jin Yao Xuan - so much I went twice in my short stay in Chongqing. Modern environment for a very good flavoured Chongqing hotpot with excellent ingredients. Gari ups, turbot and beef were all really fresh tasting. Wine also available as per Westin list which was reasonable. My mandarin is not good but the serving team spoke enough English so there were no problems. Thank you for bringing the good flavours of Chongqing into the Westin. Thanks also to Stephen the manager who skilfully helped in finalising arrangements.

Like any person a little wary of hot spicy food including hot pots I was guarded when taken to Chongqing Cygnet restaurant to dine on Sichuan hot pot. Told it was uniquely flavoured with Sichuan Peppers which gave the dish a âmalaâ or numb and spicy taste, only heightened my apprehensiveness. Yes I tried it and soon realised that the hot spice was not for me nor my sensitive stomach. I had to dumb it down significantly but still the flavours were there full of spice yet not burning as it went down.

This is one of the best ADD Restaurants I saw so far in China! The choice is huge and the quality is good! The Restaurant is located at the 52nd Floor of Westin Hotel. Besides the food you can enjoy a beautiful view over the city of Chongqing!

It is a nice cafe right beside the lift of the hotel. The cafe is well designed with many interesting stuff reminding the culture of Hong Kong. Absolutely love this hot pot restaurant. From the old Red Army outfits and Mao themes to the spectacularly SPICY hot pot. I don't think you can say you have had hot pot until you have visited this chain of restaurants. Fun atmosphere. Highly recommend. Has a big bar area where you make your sauces to dip your meat/fish into.

Wonderful nights sleep, lovely linens and a comfortable bed. My room was clean and quiet. Multilingual staff, excellent breakfast buffet. I would highly recommend this during your travels to China.
