The town is on the south bank of the River Tees and is historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire. The bridge at Yarm marked the furthest reach of tidal flow up the River Tees until the opening, in 1995, of the Tees Barrage, which now regulates river flow above Stockton. As the last bridge on the river before the sea, it was superseded by a new toll bridge opened in Stockton in 1771. The oldest part of the town, around the High Street, is situated in a loop of the river, and the newer parts of the town extend to the point where the River Leven meets the River Tees.

The friends I met here visit regularly but it was my first visit. We only had coffee, scones and teacakes but they were delicious. The scone was toasted with melted cheese, delicious. Plenty of butter was provided for the teacakes. Great service and good value. Iâll definitely be back. Have had sandwiches and good coffee from here before and decided to try the evening menu.The aperitivo was absolutely gorgeous and the presentation, as you can see was perfect. Everything in the photo was what was served just for the 2 of us. So many good, high quality meats, cheeses and 3 hot dishes. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable about what they were serving.Will definitely go back.

Popped in for a coffee with my dad and ordered two cappuccinos, one was good and one was quite frankly poor it was more like a latte, but setting that aside the staff were friendly and efficient the service was good and welcoming. A busy little stop at all times of the day.There is a good beverage choice from teas and coffees to beers and spirits.The food looked good although we only stopped for a coffee and will go back next time in the area hopefully to a better cup of coffee.Hi,Many thanks for your review, we are sorry the coffees weren't up to scratch, we will ensure that this is passed on, as we like to ensure good service and good products.We hope to see you again soon for another cuppa.

What a gem of a cafe just outside Yarm! Outdoor play equipment and small indoor kids activity area, excellent food/drink at fantastic prices. The atmosphere is lovely, relaxing, friendly and comfy. Definitely THE cafe to check out in the Yarm area. The massive free car park is a real asset too. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

I didnât know this place existed! But now Iâve found it Iâm sure to be back. Myself and friends all ordered the afternoon tea. Very good value, tasty sandwiches, delicious scones and cakes. Hot pots of tea all served in pretty china. The staff care that you are satisfied, very enjoyable afternoon

Another afternoon tea we were so impressed e just had to come again. Service is excellent and waitress very attentive bringing us as much tea as we wanted, They were very busy with nearly everyone having tea. Sandwiches fresh and tasty scones lovely to Only complaint would be the bought cherry bakewell but saying that so much to eat we brought a lot home for later. Well done we will be back soon.

We walked the main street at Yarm trying to find somewhere for a nice, but inexpensive meal. A lot of the menus outside the pubs and restaurants seemed a bit expensive and pretentious, but eventually we found the café inside The House (a sort of small department store on the main street).Even though it was busy, we were soon shown to a table. The menu had a good choice of food. The meals we chose were very tasty and moderately priced. The service was friendly.One disadvantage was that the toilets were upstairs - perhaps a bit of a problem for anyone with a mobility problem. Other than than, I can recommend this restaurant for its food and its reasonable prices.

This is the downstairs bar restaurant as opposed to Tomahawk , the steak restaurant upstairs. The Lotus Lounge is once again called âHideâ so a reincarnation of a previously good eatery. On this occasion the place did not really live up to its previous reputation. A popular bar which gets very noisy later on as the average age drops! The food is unsensational akin to Wetherspoons but not better. Not a place to celebrate a special personal event but probably okay for large work groups of younger adults

Called in for coffee and cheese scone today. Not the easiest place to find ! Seating and tables inside or on patio to front. Adjoining small garden centre unit and a hand car wash. Staffed by prisoners due for release who are courteous and friendly. Also very efficient. Prices very cheap and food quality very good. They serve costa coffee- coffee , tea and 2 cheese scones only £4.10! High number of staff to customer ratio. It was good to see place well patronised. Very worthy of support. Good luck to u lads now and upon release.

Borrelli is a delightful little cafe that serves fresh quality products. Great place for a light lunch or coffee and cake. Friendly and efficient owners/ staff. Whilst they do have some lovely Italian products , they also have Yorkshire ham ! Very small premises but tables added outside in decent weather.
