May 21, 2022 Tonie Szymanski

Lying at the heart of Norway’s Western Fjord area, Hordaland is home to culturally rich Bergen, the country’s second largest city. Hardangerfjord, Norway’s second-longest fjord (and the third-longest in the world), is here too, and cruising along its scenic 110 miles is a top area activity. Leirvik, the second-biggest town in Hordaland, has the interesting open-air Sunnhordland Folk Museum. Set atop one of the country’s biggest glaciers, Folgefonna National Park has a popular summer ski center.

We got Vlad as our driver/guide and had the best time ever. Our group was late and he patiently waited for us, and then gave us one of the best experiences ever. We were a group of yarnlovers and he took us to 2 yarn factories, arranged a small tour for us there, showed us some waterfalls outside the city, stopped for toilet breaks and chatted and laughed with us. He was so knowledgeable and this was an excellent way to see the sights of Bergen. We can highly recommend him and this tour to anyone.

I have visited Norway just before the start of pandemic Covid-19 spreading. Unfortunaly, I didn' t have during my stay in Norway any walking tours in one of the most popular Norwegian historical cities - Bergen. Suddenly I discovered that one of Bergen tourist agencies suggests virtual online walking tours. It was so nice. International tourism is almost died now. Live online tour was a discovery for me. I was sitting with my smartphone at home enjoying stories of my local guide Ole, who was doing the real tour for me in the center of old Bergen passing with his camera medieval quarters. Tour was shorter than standard real tours. For me 1 hour was enough both for getting historical information and for the shopping at the end of the tour. My trophy became 3 magnets, a cup and 10 cans of blue berry in capsules that help to encrease immune system. Ole sent me them with DHL. My recommendations!

We pick you up from any hotel, and go by our VIP car towards Norheimsund, and the Hardangerfjord region. On the way we stop by two large waterfalls: Fossen Bratte, and Steinsdalsfossen, the last one you can walk behind. We continue to Norheimsund, and change over to the waiting boat, M/Y Iselina Bella, a Princess 50. From Norheimsund we cruise into the narrow, remote and undiscovered pristine Fyksesund fjord, which is only accessible by boat. We stay in here for a couple of hours, just to enjoy the silence in the nice nature, between the steep mountains, with waterfalls directly down to the fjord. You can have a drink from the waterfalls if you like, a shower under them, or a swim in the fjord. When we are happy with the fjord, we cruise back to Norheimsund for lunch at Thon Hotel Sandven, and car back to Bergen. Typically we will be back around 6 PM

Great fjordcruise from Bergen city. A full day of relaxation and lovely nature, beautiful fjords, mountains, waterfalls. Nice boat, nice crew, and this fjord is probably the best option for a daytrip in Bergen. We were a family of 8, and everybody enjoyed the cruise. Captain had some bottles of wine, coffee, tea, snacks, bottled water, all very well arranged.

Glacier cruise to the Folgefonna glacier, with fjord cruise and VIP car transportation. Typically we start around 10:00, you are picked up on in the hotel garden, next to the swimming pool. We cruise out the Hardanger Fjord to the village Jondal, where our VIP car (BMW X5) is waiting for you. We continue up to the Folgefonna glacier, about 19 km. Up at the glacier, we can either just walk over to the glacier for a look, touch and feel, or hire a (VIP) guided tour on the glacier for typically 3 hours. When finished on the glacier, we drive back down to the village. We can have lunch at the local Jondal hotel, or continue to Odda city by car for lunch, with some more options. After lunch we drive to the Låtefoss waterfall 15 minutes up the valley from Odda, spectacular waterfall. Return to hotel by car, and we should be back around 18:00. With this you have a full day Hardanger excursion with yacht and VIP car, and will explore many of the villages and attractions along the fjord.

We arrived in Eidfjord by car from Oslo around 3 PM, and our travel agent had booked this boat for a fjord cruise to Ullensvang. It was planned to do a detour via Fyksesund, which should be a good spot. Boat was ready in Eidsfjord when we arrived, and after a short stroll in the streets with some lovely icecream from a small shop, we went onboars the boat. We had no rush at all, and agreed with the captain to take it easy most of the time, slow cruising to enjoy the fjord. After a while we arrived Fyksesund fjord, and as the rumors said- it was a lovely place. We cruised in the fjord towards several small waterfalls, and have never seen something like this. Captain manouvered the boat into the waterfall, and my wife got on the foredeck to have a shower under it, even though it was a little cold it was an amazing experience. We opened a bottle of wine and njoyed the rest of the cruise, heading for our hotel at Lofthus. We must say that this cruise made the day for us, and the fjords live up to its rumor, LOVELY!!

Unforgettable experience! recommend it to everyone. Our guide (Frode) is a very friendly man with great knowledge of Viking and Norwegian history. Our guide always reassured us by saying exactly what would happen during the course. Also, we always left the luggage inside the car of our guide (so we didn't need care about it). All the times that we did the train ride, and arrived in a train station, our guide was there waiting for us. He always reported us what would happen in the next track and when arrived again at the end of this course, he was there waiting again. Always at the exact time marked. Almost at the end of our tour, the weather was changing rapidly and so as not to risk being stopped at the train station for 5 hours, our guide drove 400 km with his own car to our hotel in Oslo. making a great effort to always make us comfortable. in summary: I recommend 100% for everyone. perfect trip with the perfect guide.

Would thoroughly recommend this tour. We were trying to decide between this one and Norway in a nutshell but we’re relieved we chose this one. The waterfall absolutely was beautiful and the viewpoint shouldn’t be missed! The fjord cruise was absolutely amazing, it’s environmentally friendly and so so quiet, you glide across the water. The van was very comfortable and the driver very knowledgeable. We definitely recommended this to anyone visiting southern Norway - highlight of our trip. Also there’s usb charging on the boat and van.
