March 25, 2022 Leonarda Pillsbury

Chonburi (Thai: ชลบุรี, RTGS: Chon Buri,  [tɕ͡ʰōn bū.rīː] ( listen)) is an eastern province (changwat) of Thailand. Neighboring provinces are (from north clockwise) Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, and Rayong. To the west is the Gulf of Thailand. Chonburi is home to Thailand's largest tourist oriented city, Pattaya (also spelled Phatthaya), it is the only province outside the Bangkok Metropolitan Area to connect by an eight-lane motorway to Bangkok, 80 km distant. It is home to Thailand's largest and primary seaport, it has a thriving migrant and expatriate population. Due to these factors, the province's population is growing rapidly, with currently some 1.7 million residents (albeit with a large floating or unregistered population). The registered population as of 31 December 2012 was 1.36 million.

We had a great time one of the best trip we have been in Thailand. Donna (tour guide) was amazing explaining the history & Thailand culture. Our first stop was Bang Pa in Palace, worth visiting the palace as it is well kept with the original features. One of the main attraction was the Historic City of Ayutthaya such a interesting place to walk around. We carried on admiring other temples included in the tour. The time allocated to each stop was just right giving us sufficient time to explore the temples by ourselves. The river cruise back to Bangkok was quite nice and relaxing after spending all morning walking. The river cruise provided a buffet lunch with a variety of food, which was good and plenty of. The only down side was the big group as we do prefer small group. Nevertheless, in this occasion Donna dedicate enough time answering all questions which made the trip more intimate. The pick up from and return to the hotel was on time and quite smooth. We definitely recommend this tour.

Silverlake is a large vineyard located in the countryside South East of Pattaya. Several grape varieties are grown from which white, red and rosé wines are produced. A romantic place with a serene atmosphere, the winery is a nice place to spend a few relaxing hours and have lunch while enjoying the views of the rural, hilly area South East of Pattaya. As the farm is quite large and it can get hot, visitors can choose to tour the vineyard in an electric tram. Stops are made at the windmill and flower gardens, some of the greenhouses, The Movie House, the grape juice plant and the winery. At each stop there is time to make photos and have a look around the natural beauty of Silverlake.

Inclusions: Round Trip Transfer, Photo Shooting Points + Grape Juice Plant +1 Bottle of Grape Juice

May met us at our hotel which was quite out of the way. She took us to all the significant sites and provided a very good commentary. Her English was excellent. We rode the ferry to the flower market, and a Tuk tuk to the Grand Palace. We were supposed to have a 8 hour tour but because we were jet lagged we cut it short.

My guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He and his driver picked me up, and dropped me off, at my hotel, even though it is well north of downtown. The Grand Palace and Wat Arun are amazing. I strongly recommend this tour. Be prepared for a LOT of walking.
