Top 10 Budget-friendly Things to do in Dusseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia

November 15, 2021 Emerita Lamoureux

The capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, Dusseldorf is a regional economic powerhouse straddling the banks of the Rhine River. Altstadt is not just Dusseldorf's lovely old town, but also where the city's nightlife is based and where Altbier, its native dark beer, is plentiful. Dusselforfians take their beer seriously. Königsallee (Ko to the locals), Dusseldorf's famous shopping street, has many high-end stores. And the Museum Kunst Palast has one of the Rhineland's best art collections.

Tranquil settings with swans, ducks and other birds by a large pond. I visited when autumn was setting in so the view was fantastic.

This free documentation center contains information about the experience of Düsseldorf residents during the second world war. What makes the center different from others is that personal experiences and not general events were described. I think that school visits to this documentation center should mandatory for all teenagers from Düsseldorf and from neighboring towns so that they will learn what populist political parties can lead to and so that "never again" will be more than a hollow slogan.

This is a wonderful open air market in the Altstadt area of Dusseldorf. Many businesses ranging from fruit and vegetables vendors to delicious eateries and wine bars. Our favorite eatery is the Pahlke Feine Fischkost where one can enjoy either fish pasta salads or tasty codfish with vegetables. If you are free for lunch this is the place to come. Also there are vendors who sell thuringer, bratwurst and curry wurst with pommes frites (chips). All in all a very pleasant place to experience. This should be on your "to do" list when visiting Dusseldorf. M. Greg Miller Millersville, Pennsylvania, USA

We enjoyed a couple of hours, in the chilly winter sun , walking around this beautifully kept property , admiring the land and the animals. The highlight for all of us was buying a 1 Euro pot of animal food, walking through a large pasture and hand feeding the friendly , gentle deer. There are play areas, toilets shes picnics areas. All clean and tidy. Theres plenty of free parking and admission is also free!
