Top 10 Breweries in California, United States

October 8, 2021 Natalie Tallman

California is a fertile, peaceful place where you’ll find a near-equal balance of vineyards and deserts, beaches and mountains, hippies and traditionalists. Catch an epic wave in Big Sur or swirl a glass in Napa Valley. Be dazzled by the Joshua Tree night sky or just star-gaze in Hollywood. Swish down the slopes of a Tahoe ski resort, or cruise across the Golden Gate Bridge with the top down and the music blasting. Above all, don’t forget to soak up some Golden State sunshine.

The Honest Abe Cider House & Meadery

Honest Abe traces its roots back to old family traditions in parts of Kentucky where Prohibition era laws ban alcohol still to this day. Our libations was born of necessity and resourcefulness and carried on for generations by a passion for quality. The recipes are steeped in tradition and the tastes refined by the warm Southern California sunshine. Made with fresh and local ingredients and Honest values…just the way you want it to be. “All men are created equal.” – Abe Lincoln (born in Kentucky in 1809) “All ciders are not.” – Honest Abe (since ever since) As part of our commitment to make a sustainable difference, we offer our cider in reusable bottles with hopes that it doesn’t go into a landfill. Please reduce, reuse and recycle. Visit our cidery and tasting room to experience all of Southern California’s Original Cider and Mead. Cheers and please enjoy responsibly!

I actually went twice! I had to get the flight on a ski my first visit, and then just chose my fave the next time. The large ski flight includes every beer they have on tap! Glad I returned because the second time, the barkeep was much friendlier! Nice, fun ambiance and space!

Stopped by Burning Barrel by accident and it has become a favorite local brewery. Have been several times since that first visit. Love the people, the atmosphere and the beers. There is often a food truck but they are fine with your bringing food in also. Dog and kid friendly, which is a plus for my family!

It is the largest craft brewery in the southwestern United States and has been named "All-Time Top Brewery on Planet Earth" by BeerAdvocate magazine - TWICE! A recently announced $26.6M expansion plan (that includes a hotel among other lofty ventures) is underway, as are developments to become the first American craft brewery to open a brewhouse in Europe. The adjacent Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens plays host to countless wildly popular beer and dining events, and is the largest purchaser of local, organic produce in San Diego County, including a growing amount from their own Stone Farms! In addition to promoting ethical eating, the restaurant boasts a lush one-acre outdoor garden as well as a line-up of 32 rotating taps and 100+ bottled craft beer selections for guests to enjoy.
