Inle Lake

Reviewed By LuizaR106 - Bangkok, Thailand

We spent our last 3 out of 12 days of holidays on Inle Lake and it was the best part of the whole trip. Here you can really see the beauty of Myanmar. Inle Lake area as well as Samkar Lake area are not only very beautiful but a lot is happening there. You must have a guide to rake you to all these places. We were lucky to find on TripAdvisor contact to Naing Moe (+95 942837 2125) who made sure that each minute of our time was filled in and we were very well taken care of. Special thanks to his friend Pie who was with us the first 2 days. Upon arrival in Heho we were picked up and drove to Pindaya cave with 8,000 Buddha statues, and drove around villages. The second day we went 50k by boat to Samkar, saw a complex of old stupas, floating stupas, pottery making and rice whisky workshops, walked through a village and saw many floating villages. The third day we cruised on Inle Lake, saw fishermen and their village, went up the river to see amazing 16th century stupa ruins, attended lotus and silk weaving and cigar making workshops. It was all super interesting and the views everywhere are breathtaking. People at Inle are the nicest ever. We stayed at Aureum Palace Hotel and Resort. We loved it. Beautiful, large rooms, very cosy restaurant with perfect menu. The avocado salad was great. And the spa is definitely worth a visit too. Excellent value for the money spent.

Ayeyarwaddy River

The little Jetty here in Mingun seemed to quite busy. There boats coming and going the whole time I was there.

On the river you can hire a boat - a large boat - and enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine. A good alternative to watching the sunset on a hilltop surrounded by a crowd of tourists.

Ayeyarwady River

Reviewed By PlanetOz - Melbourne, Australia

My wife and I went on a luxury boat cruise from Mandalay to Bagan, for 4 nights on Sanctuary Ananda. We upgraded to the Owner's Suite, which measures 75 square metres, including the balcony. There were daily excursions to tourist attractions, as well as on board entertainment. We took the optional Hot Air Balloon flight in Bagan. It was a very pleasant trip. We also went to Inle Lake and Yangon. Myanmar is the 46th country that I have been to.

Irrawaddy Confluence

Reviewed By pattieuk

We were put off by other reviewers as well as some local friends who recommended the Sadung waterfalls instead , so we planned to skip this however had too much time to spare and headed for the confluence in the late morning on our last day . The sun struggled to shine through but even then the scenes before you arrive ( at the viewpoint ) were amazing . ( takes about 1 hr by car from Myitkyina). Once at the confluence the giant pebble boulders were so awesome ( we visited during the dry season and I think this makes all the difference) .Visitors can dress up in local Kachin or Lisu National costumes for 1000 kyats each costume (under $1) There are shanty coffee shops and snacks sellers with the usual risk of littering . Well worth it just to experience the pebbles beach .
