The Caravan is a small B&B in a renovated neoclassical building of 1929. With a total of 13 rooms, it is located in one of the most historical neighborhoods of Thessaloniki's center. An ideal choice for anyone who visits the city for personal or business purposes, looking for a friendly, quiet and cozy environment.
Great staff, minimal lodging
Reviewed By Cindy RI wish someone had written an honest opinion on The Caravan before we spent two nights there. Thessaloniki is not an easy place to get to and when we arrived, we were very tired after a long train ride. The hotel is a glorified coffee shop with lots of young people studying in the lobby. This is fine if you are a young person looking for a cheap place to stay (although this was not particularly cheap). The lobby was crowded and unorganized and I honestly didn't know if I was in a hotel or a coffee shop. When we got checked in, we went up to our room on the 4th floor and it was about 95 deg in the room. The AC is not on unless the key is in the slot by the door. The room had a "veranda" which was a rooftop sauna with no shade and all the curtains were left open so it was miserable. I tried to call them to get another key so we could leave the AC running and go somewhere else so we didn't pass out from heat stroke but the phone didn't work. I honestly didn't know if it was a prop or a real phone since it was an old one with a dial. Found out later it was real - just didn't work - in fact didn't work the entire time we were there (yes - I did let them know immediately upon arrival). The room was very weird and very hostel like. Metal attached furniture, No shades on bulbs (felt like an interrogation room), only 2 pillows on the bed. They did have a "pillow menu" but we couldn't order any as our phone didn't work. Veranda furniture was disgusting. Obviously cushions were left out in the every rain, metal part was rusting, etc. There was zero shade (and it was hot!). There was an umbrella stand taking up part of the veranda but no umbrella to be found. Breakfast was good but they asked what you wanted and didn't quite adhere to that. They also asked if you wanted it delivered to your room and didn't quite do that either - we had to go down 4 floors, find our breakfast in the breakfast room and they then brought it up - which we had to eat quickly on our rapidly heating veranda. The room was so small there was no possibility of eating in there. I will say the staff tried very hard. My thinking is that no owners are onsite and the staff is contracted help and they have very little control over how the hotel is maintained (phones working, veranda furniture, general decor). They do their best and they were helpful in getting taxis. I honestly felt like I was in a dorm room and that was not the experience we were looking for at all.

Reviewed By BruceDingBreakfast was not "in room" as advertised but a chit for the sister hotels restaurant 3 blocks away. Advertised room serviced...but none. Elevator does not work. One staff...receptionist....but only from 11am to 7pm. Even the key packet says the hours are longer than that...apparently cost cutting due to Covid19...after all this is only a 12 room hotel. Great location...no hot water was a bummer but they said that was due to a gas main break...but no one was warning guests.

A central and very cozy boutique hotel.
Reviewed By Yifat BThe location of the hotel is very central. The room was spacious, with a large balcony, a large and luxurious shower, and no less important, an inner, quiet room. The service is outstanding! Everything we requested was received in less than a minute. For example, we asked for chairs and a table for the balcony, and they immediately came to put them in. We asked for an electric kettle (there is an espresso machine in the room, but we wanted to prepare black coffee), and we immediately got one. Above all, the staff at the counter is kind and helpful !!! They did everything to make us comfortable and cozy. We had a rented car, and throughout the days we were at the hotel, they made sure to keep a parking space for us. Breakfast arrives in the room by prior arrangement - that is, the night before you order from the menu, it comes at your request. Although the breakfast is basic (eggs, vegetables, bread, orange juice, coffee, jam, honey, fruit, and cake), it is enough. What's more, it is very convenient to eat in the room. Beyond that, the cleanliness is also exceptional. Every day the room is thoroughly cleaned. One small detail that we think needs improvement is the lobby - the lobby is small and uninviting. It will be perfect if they put armchairs in it and a little more design. By the way, the rest of the hotel is modern and inviting. In conclusion, we will return for sure. From now on, this is our hotel in Thessaloniki.

Comfortable stay near old Byzantium wall. Premium quality mattress and new modern furniture. Separate and convenient bathroom. Quite location, not far from the Railway station, waterfront and old city Ano Polis. Excellent location to see all the sights of the old Thessaloniki.

Reviewed By ozerkeGood location. Very very clean. Natalia was very friendly. Peaceful and secure building. The garden is good even when it rains. Close to restaurants by walk. The parking is on the street but easy to find a free space nearby. Do not miss if you can find vacant rooms.

Great Location
Reviewed By ulkupakLocation was great. We can go seaside and historical places by walking from hotel. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's house is 15-20 min. by walking from hotel. Breakfast is 7 euro and it was satisfactory. There is not any elevator, but it was not problem for us. If you will come with baby, consider this issue. Room was not so clean. Bed linen was dirty. There was not any curtain or shower cabin at the bathroom. We made reservation for 2 adult + 1 child. However we did not bring our child to hotel. We offered to change our room for 2 adults but hotel did not accept it.

Reviewed By redman5314Stayed there many times. Very helpful and kind staff. Good pricing. But please don't call it an accessible hotel. Yes, it has an elevator and big rooms for wheelchair, but it has some difficult steps with a turn before the small lift.

Reviewed By moshecwwe took the risk & booked this hotel with no reviews or recommendations as it was scheduled to open the same day we've planed to arrive. the evening before we passed by the hotel and it was still under construction... the day after we got the welcome of our life, we were the first guests ever after 3 years of construction, & restoration. and the excitement of the management & the stuff was contagious. we've stayed for 4 of the most amazing days we've ever had, the location of the hotel' in-front of the harbor is the best in the city, the room was great, and so the view from the balcony & the really spoiling bathroom. every detail in the hotel is made with love & perfection, the stuff is so friendly, helpful, joyful & proud being part of the best hotel in Thessaloniki. the restaurant is one of the best in the city & for the breakfast alone ii will come back, in a nut shell, we've already booked our next stay.

Huge clean room
Reviewed By AndSMI have enjoyed the stay at this location for 1 night. The room was large 30+ sqm with 1 large bed and 2 sleeping sofas. The host is very friendly and helpful. Only 2 downsides are that is a bit far from Ladadika (town center) and the breakfast is not all that great. Other than that is a great location for a 1 night stay. Clean, cool, spacious, that's prety much all you need.

Το δωμάτιο είναι ικανοποιητικό για ένα άτομο αλλά για δύο θα το προτιμούσα λίγο μεγαλύτερο. Επίσης λείπουν τα amenities στο δωμάτιο. Το προσωπικό είναι χαρούμενο και έτοιμο να σε εξυπηρετήσει με ευχαρίστηση. Η περιοχή είναι υπό ανάπτυξη αλλά είναι καλή αν θέλεις να μην είσαι στην καρδιά της πόλης.
