Worst Place in Italy

Where to even start...? Check in says 2pm-10 pm but when I arrived, there was no parking in front or near the entrance so I found a spot a few blocks away and walked over to find a couple of 13 year old girls at the desk who spoke no English who could only giggle to each other when I tried to communicate with a translator. I had left my ID in the car and said I would be right back, (in Italian) and when I came back with all luggage, the front door was locked and nobody was there. I waited in the hot sun for about 30 minutes before other guests happened by and opened the door and let me in. The regular check in person arrived after I waited another 10 minutes and I got the room. In the room, the walls are so thin you can hear everything from the halls and other rooms and street. I was lucky enough to have a very unhappy baby AND someone who sounded like she was practicing to audition for some type of belt-it-out singing contest next to me. The bed ensemble is an elaborate closet and cabinet system that takes up most of the room but serves very little function otherwise. You cannot even fit a small water bottle upright next to the bed because of the cabinet, so you need to keep the cabinet open for that. There are no electrical outlets near the bed on either side for phone / computer chargers. There is a small tv - NOT a smart tv with usable apps- BUT you cannot use if you also want to use the mini fridge, as they share a plug. There are two WiFi addresses in the hotel. The one you CANNOT use is called hoteldelmolo2 and it has fantastic signal strength in the room. The one you are allowed to have the password to — hoteldelmolo1 — at best gets a half to a quarter of a bar signal strength if you carefully position yourself in one spot and don’t move. This spot is not near enough to the bed for you to relax and watch Netflix or check mail. Even then, you must configure a setup and hurry to finish what you’re doing before the signal drops and you need to reconnect. Every. Five. Minutes. Or less! The bed itself is a cruel torture device with stabby springs and divets that left my back in spasms and required physical therapy once I got home. It’s the kind of mattress that was a cheap purchase 20-30 years ago and it has deteriorated exponentially. I would be ashamed and embarrassed to take money from people in exchange for a night on a bed like this. Adding insult to literal injury, upon checkout, I was told I would be paying €30 more than the other guests for the same room because I reserved the room through a certain travel site starting with B and she literally tsk’d out loud and shook her head telling me, then showed me the ledger with names and prices so I would know to book directly next time. (Lol @ next time) She did give me helpful directions but right when she was helping me find my way out, the owner came in with what they called “the cakes” for breakfast and got very aggravated that she was taking to me. He complained at her in Italian so she would hurry up and get over to the breakfast area and put out the cakes then shot a snarl at me before skulking back out the front door. Nobody was even downstairs for food yet. The terribleness of the place is dumbfounding. Don’t stay here, especially if you have a car, because the town is so small and there is a large parking lot at the port that never fills up, so it is very easy to find a nice place to stay and still enjoy the port area conveniently. On the plus side, the young woman working reception is very nice and informative. She made me a nice coffee, gave me an interesting history lesson, and guided me on the best route to take across the island so I wasn’t stuck zigzagging up and down mountains on hairpin turns for 2 hours.

abondoned, expencive and a shitwhole

We decides to book a hotelroom insted of an apartment when we visited porto pollo this summer, because we wanted a clean place to stay with fresh towels, bed sheets and a nice breakfast. The price was high compered to other facilities in the area and the other hotels in Sardina. We booked thru venere.com where it said a hotel, free wifi, breakfast. Well it wasn't. When we arrived we got a plastic bag with towels and bed sheets. First hotel ever that didn`t make the beds and prepared the room before you arrived. we got a key to the backdoor in case the front door was closed in the night. well the hotel was closed for a week and we didn`t see anybody, guests or staff, the whole week. nobody cleaned the room, changed the towles or the bed sheets for eight days. Maybe this was a hotel once, but now it`s abandoned scary place. if the ad in venere.com had said small apartment without a kitchen and no service and the price had been 1/4 of what we paid, it would be ok, because it is a roof over our head. free wifi? no wifi! the breakfast wasn't at the hotell at all, but at a local bar 200 meters down the road. A really nice place with good coffee. But the ad said continental breakfast, so we expected a better start of the day. we took a cup of coffee and ate breakfast at the beach. when we should leave the hotel guy showed up and we where told to put the towels in a bag and throw the garbage in the garbage boxes outside the hotel. The positive is that porto pollo is a nice place and the restaurant "il mastreale" next door to the "hotel" was really nice with great food. Can also recommend the restaurant at the other hotel le dune and the food at the small bar in the middle of the beach. Go to porto pollo, but don`t stay at the death hotel porto puddo.

Family Vacation in Palau

Reviewed By g8trs1

We could not have chosen a better place to stay for our family vacation. The staff at the Palau City Hotel (Luisa, Aura, Ronex & Hassan) were all exceptional. The hotel (small and quiet) was walking distance to a small beach, shopping, restaurants, and the port. The room was very clean with a nice balcony. The daily breakfast was fantastic with some items specially made each day. We started every morning with juice and freshly made cappuccinos (and hot chocolates for the kids). The hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure that the whole family was happy with our stay.

An experience like I haven't had in a long time. A place that must be visited on a trip to Sardinia. Landed there by chance, we were spoiled by the staff of Petra Bianca and the excellent Bartender Tommaso (Mastro Pecchia). Coming from the hospitality industry myself, I can say with great certainty that you have to search a long time to find such an authentic place with this culinary offer. I had the best Negroni of my life and that is saying something (I had a few). If you are looking for a place to relax with courteous staff and a savory culinary offering this is the spot. Would come back anytime. Well done and keep it up!

Basic hotel near the harbour

Reviewed By sanu92

Con: Rooms are a little bit outdated and at the back of the hotel you do not have a pretty view. No elevator so you have to carry your baggage up on the stairs. Pro: Hotel is located close to the harbour, 5 min walking distance, with plenty of restaurants. Hotel is located on a hill so dont go on high heels. Free parking space in front and aft of the hotel building. Would recommend the hotel for 1 night and if you are going or coming from visiting La Madalenna.

We stayed for a total of 5 nights and absolutely loved it! Paula is such a wonderful host and made us feel at home. She has great connections for activities around Palau. The rooms are warm, inviting and very clean! Even though it is very centrally located (~ 3 minute walk to the marina, supermarket and lots of restaurants nearby), it is a quiet neighbourhood. We definitely recommend staying at B&B Il Campo di Farfalle!
