Casa Antonieta

Casa Antonieta is characterized for being a unique & peaceful place, combining the simplicity and hospitality of a Oaxacan home with the attention and quality of a modern hotel. Ideal to disconnect from everyday life, stop time and enjoy every moment. The architectural beauty of Casa Antonieta is of great importance to us. When entering the house, the first thing you will notice is the large columns that support the entire building. The perfect symmetry of the arches that surround the beautiful courtyard which allow the flow of air and light creating a fresh and peaceful atmosphere. It is a common area, where you can spend time having a cup of coffee from our own Muss Cafe while you plan your next trip, sit down, relax, have a chat, share your stories with us or with other travelers like yourself.

What a beautifully designed and put together space Casa Antonieta is. This private boutique hotel was the perfect place for our stay in Oaxaca. We where welcomed with such professionalism and care after a long flight, always found solutions to our every inquiry and greeted every day as if it was our first by the impeccable team. The food and cocktails are fresh and tasty, the hotel guest happy hour on the rooftop terrace was most welcomed after long discovery days & truly we felt like Casa Antonieta quickly became a home away from home.

Beautiful hotel in La Punta, Puerto Escondido

I stayed here for 2 weeks whilst taking part in a yoga teacher training. I would highly reccomend this hotel for the following reasons: 1. The staff - they are incredibly kind and hardworking, really going above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic stay. 2. The location - the hotel is located very near the centre of the La Punta area, with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. 3. The hotel itself - the facilities such as the rooms (especially in the newer part of the hotel) fitness studio, pool and restaurant were all well maintained and great to use. Overall, I really couldn’t fault my experience here. The hotel is beautiful but what really makes it are the wonderful, kind staff who made it feel like a home away from home.

Loved my stay there. The bungalows are built in an environmentally conscious way, they are beautifully kept, you can hear the waves at night, the staff are all wonderful. Dieter (the owner) goes beyond the call of duty to ensure that all of his guests are enjoying their stay. Definitely a place worth staying at - if you are lucky enough to get a room!

ABUSIVE AND INAPPROPRIATE OWNER

Reviewed By Bree V

Do not come here if you are a female alone. Even if you are not alone. The owner of this place - an older man - is quite inappropriate. He made comments the entire time about how he liked me but not my boyfriend. He constantly made rude comments, intruding in to our conversations, putting down my male friends while hitting on my female friend and I. We were looking for a place with a kitchen, so he said we could use the (filthy) kitchen. Especially because he “liked me so I can do whatever I want” and he “likes me in his kitchen” - ew! There was drinking water available, and on our last day he screamed at us for “drinking all the water” because he had to get water to make his coffee in the morning. However, there were about 10 - 15 other people staying there drinking the water. He threw some bottles out of the freezer accusing us of putting them there - they weren’t ours. He literally carried on like a toddler having a tantrum. So basically a creepy guy with anger issues in an otherwise nice spot. There are plenty of other beautiful spots on this beach.

Good Choice

The Maria Mixteca actually has a few budget rooms that are accessible a few doors down from the actual hotel. They're cheaper and the bathrooms are smaller, but I'm told that they're otherwise not too different. I stayed in one of these for a couple of nights, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was clean, air conditioned, had hot water, and was conveniently located right by the plaza. I would stay there again.

Hotel Casa Bocana

Beautiful and eco-friendly

Reviewed By Peiji

Space - The hotel and rooms are very quiet, however if you are not used to the sound of roosters, dogs and birds, you may have trouble sleeping. I personally love the sound of roosters and birds. I was able to adapt immediately the second night. The bedsheets are incredibly soft... the softest bed I have ever slept on! The pillows feel like soft clouds under your head. The room is minimal, well curated and designed. I love how there wasn't a television in the room. We only had a small fridge, which was hidden under the desk. There is also a small balcony with a beautiful hammock, perfect for watching the sunrise or relaxing during the day when it's too hot. The hotel uses filtered (reverse osmosis) water and you can request the staff to refill your water bottle. There is no need to buy plastic bottles of water. We also noticed solar panels on the rooftop. My partner spoke with one of the managers and he said that the hotel tries to reuse water as much as possible. Nice touch - There is a shower near the entrance of the hotel to clean off your feet from the beach. Shower - I wasn't a fan of the shower at first because I'm quite petite at 5'1. The shower head is very high and it felt like there was too much pressure coming down on me. It's very minor, but it would be nice to have a hand held option. I didn't mind it at all after staying there for 6 nights. I got used to the shower just fine. The water temperature was also very inconsistent, but it didn't bother me too much. The hot water was not consistent and sometimes non-existent, but hot water is not good for your skin, so I can't complain. Food - I don't eat meat and am mostly plant-based. I wish the dinner menu had more vegetarian friendly options. It was mostly all seafood and meat. The citrus salad and tuna tartar were my favourites from the menu. The breakfast menu is great. You can always ask to remove or substitute ingredients. My favourite breakfast was the fresco egg waffles, costena omelette and the baby yoda juice. Drinks - If you like a mojito, order one from Rey the bartender. He makes a really good one. One of the best I have tasted. I don't drink alcohol, but he was able to make me mocktails and they were delicious. Service - The service was exceptional and the staff were all very friendly. Melina the concierge was our main contact since booking our stay. She is very knowledgable and approachable. She helped us out with many things, including our first dinner at the hotel. We didn't feel like going into town, so she set us up with a local delivery contact on Whatsapp and we ordered our food from there. It was a Monday and the restaurant at the hotel was closed. There were not many people staying at the hotel when we arrived. We had most of the place to ourselves, until about the third night, more people started staying and it was getting busier. It may not have been expected and there was not enough staff at one point, so service was a little slow, but I still think they managed very well. If you are impatient, you may find it frustrating. Pool - Salt water pool! It was a requirement of mine for the place where we will be staying. The pool is beautiful and was perfect for afternoon breaks. Beach - Playa Bocana is beautiful, even during off season. I can't imagine what it would look like during high season when everything is lush and green. The sunrises are beautiful and I would highly recommend going into the ocean when the sun rises, the golden red light reflecting onto the ocean is breathtaking. It's about a minute walk from the hotel. Activities - There is a game room with a large TV screen for entertainment. There are also board games. I highly recommend staying at Casa Bocana. It's a beautiful hotel away from majority of the tourists. It's the place to truly relax.
