Filthy water - very unpleasant stay
Reviewed By artakonjushaI went to Umbria on a bike trip with my boyfriends family and we were changing hotels everyday because of our bike trips. This was the 4th one we changed and the worst in comparison with the other ones. 1. As soon as we arrived there of course we were tired and we wanted to take a shower. The water coming from the tap and the shower was very very filthy and normally the people that work there should notify us about it in advance or at least when we check in. Thank god we saw it on time and didn’t drink it. Afterwards i went to the reception to ask about it and the woman working there couldn’t speak english so thats why i had to take pictures and videos so she understands me. (Good cause now i can show it to you). She tried to explain somehow that there are works in the neighbourhood. Okay.It is normal that people make new buildings but notifying the guests is a must in these cases. 2. Knowing that there is no clean water in our rooms we went to ask for water at the reception. The woman working there gave us 1 small 0,33cl bottle per person. That quantity of water normal human beings drink in max. 1 hour. We went again after some time and she gave us again only small bottles. While checking out, they tried to charge us for the water bottles and we lost 1 hour arguing with them about it. It was a very very unpleasant stay at the hotel. 3. We went that night to eat at the hotel restaurant with lots of fear of getting sick since the water in that area was super dirty. We didn’t get sick - hurray. Only the forks and knifes were not properly cleaned. 4.One good thing was that when the air conditioning didn’t work in our room they fixed it in short time. 5. Another good thing was the food at the restaurant. It was very delicious but i was in constant fear of getting poisoned by the water afterwards. I hope they used other water in the kitchen. In conclusion our stay in this hotel made our holiday not pleasant anymore. I wish we never came there.

Disappointing stay - beautiful location
Reviewed By alexandera926We stayed for one night at this beautiful location. We also made a reservation for the restaurant that evening. We called one day beforehand to confirm our reservation. Upon arrival the reception didn't know about this, so we asked again. When entering the restaurant, they also didn't know about it. This already were signs that the organisation isn't structured and communication between departments is poor. The food was disappointing. The tagiatelli with ragu tasted like it was made a few days ago and heated up again; a shame for an Italian restaurant if you ask me. After the horrible Primi, we decided not to take a Secundi or dessert. Other guests also did not seem too happy about their food. However, it wasn't that expensive, so expectations can't be that high. The staff from the spa and welness arrived at 6:30AM. I can tell because they were loudly chatting in the courtyard of the castle. The cleaning ladies decided to make sure everyone was waken up by talking in the corridors at 8AM. To wrap it up: beautiful location, horrible service and disappointing food. Looking at previous comments, on which we decided to book this hotel, my guess is that it has been taken over or that the place lost its glory.

Excellent Service, Outstanding Location, Perfect Relaxing and Italian Nature
Reviewed By Rene SI don't know where to start as there are so many things that deserve 5 out of 5 stars. First, there is the rooms: Nice, clean, very modern but fit in to this ancient location. You can clearly see that the owner has architectural skills. Second, food: You can not eat fresher and more natural than at this place. Most of the ingredients come frome the own fields (such as bread and fruits for marmelade etc.), all of these are organic, even the juices served for breakfast. Third, the location: Ok, it is not easy to get there as there are rural roads leading to Borgo Santa Cecilia, but it is definitely worth to go the "extra mile" to have this outstanding view on several mountains, hills and green nature. Fourth, the service: The owners are more than just service oriented. They do their best to fulfill every wish, no matter if its extras to the breakfast or some smaller meals inbetween lunch and dinner. After a while it feels more like they are family than just owner of the hotel. I strongly recommend this place for relaxation and if you want to experience Italian style nature and genuine Umbrian food.

Great little place in the centro storico in Gubbio

The only room left had a very small bathroom but the girl told us about this beforehand and it was no problem. The price was very fair and even included breakfast.

Reviewed By 7268Room was very cozy on a snowy day. Large room with plenty of free space for luggage. Nice bathroom and free-flowing HOT water in the shower. Views from the windows over the city. This small hotel is in one of Gubbio's original medieval buildings. Owner (Frederica) was very kind and welcoming. I had to move here from another local hotel. Frederica checked me in at 10am (very unusual in Europe for such an early check-in. Frederica also helped me negotiate the narrow stairways with my enormous, heavy luggage. I didn't see an air conditioning, Hotel is part of the historic center of the city. Reaching the hotel by car is only possible if you have a tiny vehicle. I recommend you park in the free parking lot at these coordinates: 43.350377, 12.575806.

Eat and sleep in Gubbio
Reviewed By stefano sThese rooms have red bricks domes and a view on the city entrance gate. Simple and nice interiors and very, very quite. As they are just over the Locanda del cantiniere restaurant they are perfect for an after dinner short way to bed. As in many buildings and streets in Gubbio, disable should consider the stairs to reach the rooms at first floor with no elevator.
