Truly a slice of heaven

Feeling at home when traveling is something that doesn't happen all the time. Honestly, it is not something we expect when going away. However, Casa Angelitos is a dream of a place where we felt at home from the moment we walked in. The entry welcomes you to a range of possibilities. If you go down the beautiful stairs, you can’t not be surprised with the beautiful rooms and spaces that suddenly appear. Gorgeous plants, peaceful rest areas and pretty fountains. If you enter the house to your left, you enter what can only be described as a refugee for the soul. There are so many details throughout every room, that you can’t help but to make beautiful stories of how they became to be. From lovely details, to beautiful pictures (my favorite is a lovely picture of Yoko and John hidden in the bar). Once we got into our room, we were surprised by the amplitude if the room and the beautiful craftsmanship of the bathroom and the brick ceiling dome. The entire crew were incredibly kind and attentive and the food was super healthy and delicious. All this being said, what makes Casa Angelitos exceptional is their owners and gracious hosts, Rosana and Roger. I don't think I’ve ever met such sweet, authentic and peaceful people. I am eternally grateful for having crossed paths with them and Casa Angelitos.

Hospitality & Charm

Reviewed By jnholly

Casa Zuniga is warm, welcoming, and comfortable. The location is great as it's a short funicular ride (or walk, if you're up for it) to the center of town at the bottom of the hill. It's also conveniently located next to the Papila Monument which makes it easy to catch a cab to or from the place, if needed. I stayed in the Morgan room, which was spacious and had a beautiful view. The place is absolutely spotless. And the homemade breakfasts were delicious. Rick and Carmen are incredibly welcoming hosts who want to share their love of Guanajuato with their guests.

Lovely hotel. Beautiful grounds and within walking distance to all the tourist attractions, restaurants and bars. Very secure. Clean. Staff are pleasant and speak English. My room was towards the front garden area as you entered. The curtains didn't fully close so people could see through if I was changing! The room was quite chilly especially at night. Otherwise, this is a good option.

Double the Charm

Reviewed By BnMadven

As our visit to San Miguel de Allende was very short, we wanted to find a quiet place to stay that was within walking distance to the historic city center. Casa Calderoni appeared to tick all the boxes, when I researched hotels. We got into San Miguel de Allende later than we anticipated, having made a tour of Queretaro. While he wasn't there to greet us, Luis, the day manager, left a nice welcome note for us, and the night manager showed us our rooms. My partner and I had the charming Picasso Room on the floor above the entrance. The double windows looked out directly over and down the charming street the B&B was on and we got a view of a soon-to-be-setting sun. The back portion of the room had a small terrace that looked out over the courtyard of the B&B. My sister had the Botero Room in the back of the B&B, which she found comfortable, despite it being an interior room without windows. The bathroom in the Picasso Room was quite spacious, with a wonderful showerhead with great water pressure. The bed was comfortable. We decided to sleep with the windows open, but suffered from some mosquitos. But did eventually close them during the night and turned on the air conditioner which worked perfectly. We had an early start to our day the next day with breakfast plans elsewhere in the city. Despite the day manager not being there that early, the friendly and helpful staff let us keep our luggage in the B&B, until we came back midafternoon to pick up our car to get back to Mexico City. Our only regret is not having spent another night at Casa Calderoni and take advantage of the breakfast and hospitality they offered.

Excellent hotel with the best views of San Miguel de Allende

Reviewed By joaniemars

My husband and I stayed in San Miguel de Allende for 2 days. The hotel is located in a hillside away from the busy city center. Be aware, there is a lot of climbing of hills and stairs, but the staff tries to be as accommodating as possible. Ermenegildo at the front desk was very warm and accommodating and made out check in process very easy. We were upgraded to the best room at the hotel and the room was huge! It was more like an apartment feel which I loved. The room had a large terrace for sipping on your morning coffee or drinks. Everything is walking distance from the hotel (about a mile at most) but again there is a lot of up and down hill. Cabs are very easy to access by the hotel.

Nice small hotel

Perfectly placed small hotel in the centre of Guanajuato. I stayed for 3 nights. I was in a small single room at basement level, which meant there was no external window, which didn’t particularly matter as I was only in there to sleep. If that’s an issue for you, you’d need to check that you’re in a ground floor or first floor room. Breakfast was decent - what you’d expect from a cold Mexico breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good value for money.

Not a Hotel it's an Airbnb

Reviewed By captjohnhenrylopez

Be advised this place is not a hotel it's an Airbnb. The property would have received a better rating if we would have known what to expect. Imagine the surprise when we arrived to find a locked door into the property and lock box with a combination lock and no way into the so called "Hotel Casa Lunatta." Luckily I had my print out with a phone number from the reservation I made with booking.com. Again, no where does it state that this property is an Airbnb. Luckily I had a mobile phone with an international data plan that I could use in Mexico. I called the phone number on my reservation print out and got an answer with an individual who then sent me a text with instructions on how to unlock the two combination locks, what a pain. Inside the second lock box are the 3 keys. Three keys are required to get into your room. Then two days later the host sends a text on where to pay for the room. We had to find something similar to a 7 Eleven called XOXO and then had to pay in cash even though booking.com stated that the "Hotel Casa Lunatta" accepts all major credit cards. So, you better have a phone with data plan that works in Mexico and be prepared to pay in cash for your stay. The property is clean and nicely decorated. Again, it was just nerve wrecking having to deal with these unpleasant surprises.
