Wonderful B+B in Monterosso

Reviewed By debA4030FF

We had a week long stay at this exceptional B+B in the heart of the old town of Monterosso.Superb location to all restaurants and bars; and 10 mins from train station and boat port for easy access to the other villages in Cinque Terre. Giovanni was the most amazing host explaining the hike trails and the ways to explore Cinque Terre. He gave recommendations to local restaurants ( L’Ancora Della Tortuga is a must visit )and even persuaded a local bar owner nearby to screen a football match we were keen to see ,along with another couple also staying there. The accommodation itself is extremely comfortable and cleaned daily by the lovely Connie There was lots of choice for breakfast; including fresh fruit salad ,pastries and eggs cooked to your liking.Tea ,coffee ,fresh fruit juices and waters were available to help yourself to all day on the beautiful flower filled terrace. We can’t recommend this marvellous B+ B highly enough! Thankyou Giovanni and Stefania for making our stay so memorable.

Absolutely outstanding

Reviewed By uflgator

Absolutely an extraordinary experience. This hotel is beautiful- with magnificent views at every turn. The staff are warm and friendly with quite good English. Service absolutely outstanding without exception (although honestly we found this to be true everywhere in northern italy). Breakfast (included) beautiful and tasty. They made dinner reservations for us. Lots of good hiking advice We stayed in the two story suite. I will say the stairs are very steep, which felt a bit treacherous after a few glasses of wine ?. And made harder after sore legs from hiking! I’d probably opt for a single floor room next time The walk to the hotel is quite steep. But no steps and we easily managed with our rolly bags. About 10 mins from the train station. Easy to find. General note: Manarola was actually our favorite town of the five. Charming. Less people. Less touristy tshirt shops. But be prepared for steep climbing everywhere. We are in our 40s and peleton regulars but had quite sore legs after a few days of hiking between the towns.

Overpriced, poorly maintained, no communication

With this property, you are (over)paying for the view -- which, admittedly, is gorgeous if you get one of the rooms overlooking the sea. Otherwise, it's a huge disappointment. We had the 'Aargan' room, and the room itself is OK, if a little lacking in amenities (one outlet, in the form of an extension cord, for the entire room). The bathroom, however, is a pit. The shower is so old and discolored, with broken tiles, that I wouldn't set foot in it. On top of that, the bathroom light wasn't working, and the housekeeper (who was very apologetic) said they couldn't get an electrician while we were there -- so, no light in the bathroom for 2 nights. The owner, who communicates instructions for check-in, etc. via email but is never actually present, did not respond to any of my emails and charged us full price for 2 nights with what was basically an unusable bathroom. Buyer beware. The pictures do not match the reality (and you can enjoy the view for free from the walkway outside the property).

Scorci Di Mare

Accomodations situated in one of the most ancient houses of Riomaggiore, in the Marina, one of the most suggestive spots of this colourful fisherman village.Directly overlooking the sea, bright, modern and cosy, these studios can confortably accomodate 2 oe 3 persons each. They are equipped with tv, private bathroom with shower and independent entrance. The apartment "La Terrazza" has also two terraces directly overlooking the sea and a fully equipped kitchen. The apartments have been recently renovated with eco-materials and restoring beautiful wood ceiling beams, while the staircase to access is in wood in seafaring style. From the windows you can enjoy a wonderful view of the little harbour and of the sea. The small beach of stones, or the rocks where you can go swimming, are a few metres away from the house and also the centre of the village, where most of the restaurants and shops are, is very close to the house and you can reach it just climbing some steps. The train station is about 200 metres from the house and even closer if you walk through the “carugi”, narrow lanes made of stairs and houses maze. The car parking is out of the centre , at about 500 metres from the Marina, uphill. The centre of the village is, of course, closed to traffic but you can access it with your own car at specific times (from Monday to Saturday from 8am to 10am and from 1 pm to 3 pm) to allow luggage loading and unloading .

Lovely pretty location and decor, would recommend.

We were a couple and a friend, so had the tri-room. Double upstairs (only room for a bed on the mezannine) and single downstairs. We were met by someone (not Cherry) who was very helpful and welcoming, and let us check in early and made us all a coffee. The room was cosy but not cramped. As we were walking all day it was fine. The amenities were great - everything was comfortable, clean, and the decor was modern and accommodating. The bathroom was great, good hot shower. We were sorry to have to check out early to catch a train, therefore missing the breakfast which sounded great, however a ton of lovely fruit fresh croissants and other breakfast goodies were left out for us. We ended up taking most of it with us for a snack later on. There is a small terrace, pretty with bright orange colouring, a lovely suntrap as it was unseasonally cool when we were there. I wish we had made this a 2 night stay instead of just the one. The terrace made the place seem bigger than it was, as it is a lovely space for coffee, breakfast or having an afternoon drink, which we did.

A great little hotel

Reviewed By tampajohn

This hotel has a perfect location. It is a short, flat walk from the train station and just past the very busy area of the sea side. This is a very small boutique hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is located in a area of pine forest which provides privacy ftom yhs street but does obstruct the view of the see from some rooms. The roof top is wonderful and a lovely breakfast is served here daily. We had room 11 which gad a large verandah. I would definitely stay here again when in Montoroso. Thus hotel also has a cute beach motif. Really this is the best location in ths sea side area.
