Skiing holiday in heaven

We would like to say grazie mille to our wonderful hosts for giving us a fantastic 4 night stay in this amazing hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful considering English is not their first language. Food was incredible, in particular the cheese and local beer. Breakfast was perfect, lots to choose from and the best scrambled eggs and coffee in the world. The room was very nice and decorated beautifully. Ski buses ran 3 times in the morning to Cavalese and then a quick change to get to Pampeago. It's a short walk up to Cavalese from the hotel but our hostess was so kind and drove us into the town so we could have a drink and even offered to pick us up. They were so chatty also and wanted us to have the best time. We had the best time ever.

Alpine peace

Reviewed By Bluebellplasnewydd

This is a typical alpine skiing chalet run by a ski instructor and his mother. The rooms are very well decorated and comfortable although on the second floor the ceilings slope. The shower room was modern with beautiful views over the pastures. The Internet worked very well in the bedroom. There is a lift which is unusual. You will need a car to get here although parking is available. The village of Masi di Cavalese itself is traditional but small and so nothing much is happening there out of season. You can walk to Cavalese (or take the cable car) which is an upmarket town with interesting shops and restaurants. The walk is about 3km but this may be tiresome after a day's activities. The local countryside is one of the best parts of the Dolomites and there are plenty of walks and other activities. It is exceptionally peaceful. Breakfasts are served in a pleasant pine clad dining room and are the usual simple bread with cheese and meats. Overall out of the ski season this accommodation is good value especially if you like walking or cycling.

Garni Maso San Michele

An impressively clean, welcoming and luxurious, situated within an authentic Italian Alpine village

Reviewed By Will C

My partner and I don't usually seek luxury, however we decided to find somewhere a little more special than the hotels and B&B's that our budget usually allows. With Garni Maso San Michele, we were presented with more than we could have expected. We arrived in the authentic Italian alpine village in which the Hotel is located to be pleasantly greeted by the owners; an immensely welcoming family. We were invited in and presented with orange juice and biscuits and given chance to relax before being shown to our room. Since it was Easter, there were miniature Lindt chocolate eggs and very tasteful easter decorations peppered around the foyer; a small but impressive touch. This was the theme throughout. The impressive pine decorations and tasteful alpine artwork spread throughout the hotel, including into the bedroom. In the basement we were given access, despite being the only guests at the time, to use the 'Wellness Suite' which was impressively clean. Another memorable touch was being given a list of local restaurants and their contact details and a recommendation based on our tastes. The owners clearly had our comfort and needs at the top of their list which can often be neglected in this industry. Breakfast deserves an individual mention. It was plentiful and faultless, with delicious homemade jam's, breads and cake; jars of granola, berries and nuts and the option to have perfectly cooked eggs and bacon. That with the selection of meats, cheese and pastry made for a perfect start to a day in the mountains. The coffee was the finest we had during our stay in Italy. Overall, I can't recommend this place highly enough. The welcoming nature of Edoardo and his family to the quality and cleanliness of the facilities and the delicious breakfast. Our only regret is that we didn't stay here longer. We would love to return and experience the area in the winter months.
