In the characteristic old town center (year 1000) of Cariati (little town located in Calabria), surrounded by mighty boundaries and eight towers, nearly rising upon the splendid Jonio sea, along the coast called “Saracens coast”, which is rich in art, history and religious traditions, in a 1600 epoch palace (“Palazzo Mascambruno”), was created the comfortable B&B epoch palace “Palazzo Mascambruno”.

Hard to find- yu drive up to the top of the old city- and park because it is on a tiny side street but no worries because the woman who is there will come to see you. (Acutally maybe the guys who were working called her as this is the kind of town it is) This is the best place with a room and a balcony right on the water way up high! ANd clean and fun- the breakfast room is not to be believed- yu are s in a castle! and the food was delicious. Just walk downtown in the old part- a dinner can be had right on the street by a man and his wife out of a window kitchen for 10E. It was a paradise!

The terraces overlook an unforgettable view, allowing guests to relax between dream and reality, scents and flavors, in a natural spectacle in the ancient village which overlooks the crystal clear Ionian Sea.
A little gem
Reviewed By Ian and Julie WWe didn't know what to expect in Cariati. Although it is on the coast, the old town is high on a hilltop and has great charm and terrific views. San Pio B&B is in a lovely old building on a quiet square right near the centre of the old town. Our room was spacious and really well presented. We had a private roof terrace with lovely views over the 14th century rooftops to the sea below. Leonardo is a charming host and gave us very helpful recommendations for dinner. He provided a lovely breakfast which we ate in the courtyard at the side of the house. We really enjoyed our stay in Cariati at San Pio.

Reviewed By Lucia PWe spent 2 nights in Hotel Berlin & the time there made our experience in Cariati simply the best :) It’s a small family business with very friendly owner who is working out of his duties. Hotel is in the best location on a main road, easy to find, you can park your car outside. Hotel is clean, in good condition, you can not get better experience in this region. Wifi is working perfectly, air conditioning in every room, breakfast is included in price. Prices for pizza & drinks are more than good & quality you can get is outstanding. The best from all of it is the owner, who is gonna make you feel like home :) Higly recomemded!

A great place for a family seaside vacation
Reviewed By P8260TNelenavLocated in a silent place, surrounded by olive gardens, 5 minutes walk from the sea. The beach is wide and not overcrowded, in fact, it's s perfect place for coronavirus times, too few people around, always warm and clean blue Ionic sea, nature and excellent food, real italian culture. The owners are charming, always ready to help. We didn't speak Italian, but google translate was helpful :) There is always a choice of good food for lunches and dinners. Pizza is amazing, local food is perfect+good wine. Cariati is 3km from here, it's 5mins by car.

Reviewed By Deanna HWe were traveling as a group of seven four adults and 3 kids age 9 to 16, we had booked another accommodation out near the beaches and did not like it upon arrival. One of our party had a business contact in the area from iGreco winery and they were so amazing to help us recommending La Valle Suite. Aldo (the owner of La Valle I think) met us and showed us three apartments that were available, they were lovely and we are so grateful to him and the staff at iGreco for finding a spot for us last minute. The apartments were beautiful, clean and comfortable. The old town of Cariati is so charming and La Valle is the place to stay. Lovely hospitality.

Struttura situata a pochi passi dal mare, che si intravede già dall'esterno, ove si può gustare un'ottima colazione, all'ombra di un gazebo e meravigliosi alberi di fico, che fanno da cornice ad un giardino estremamente curato e piacevole. Ogni giorno abbiamo trovato a tavola cornetti fragranti di ogni gusto, caffè comodamente servito in moka a tavola, latte freddo o caldo secondo richiesta, yogurt, cereali, ottimi succhi di frutta, il tutto in abbondanza, come abbondante è stata la gentilezza, l'estrema serietà, la disponibilita' del padrone di casa che non si risparmia, anzi si da con passione e dedizione ai suoi clienti. Le camere sono spaziose, arredate con gusto, dotate di frigo, asciugacapelli, biancheria pulita e climatizzatore, con un bagno grande ed impeccabile. Doccia esterna, possibilità di usufruire del piano cottura per cucinare le pappe ai più piccoli, spazi esterni sicuri, a prova di bambino, persino per i terremoti come il mio, che è stato davvero bene. A volte capitano, interagendo solo per telefono con le strutture, delle brutte sorprese, io sono grata per aver potuto non solo confermare la buona impressione che il titolare ci aveva fatto al telefono, ma sorprendermi a mano a mano del benessere gustato in questi giorni, poichè non è scontato trovare un padrone di casa perfetto, di estrema disponibilita', non e' scontato trovare una struttura così funzionale ad un prezzo così competitivo, non è scontato avere un mare meraviglioso a dieci passi per goderne in ogni momento della giornata! Dunque assolutamente Promosso a pieni voti. Io scindo le strutture in 2 categorie, i posti dove non vorrei ritornare e i posti dove, invece, spero di ritornare. "Camera a Sud" rientra assolutamente in questa ultima, ve la consiglio a cuore pieno!
