The Bedford

The Bedford has gone from strength-to-strength since re-launching itself back in March 2013. It is recognised as one of the top traditional ale pubs in Kent and features microbrewery beers from over 30 different breweries across Kent, Sussex, Surrey & London. We can boast 11 real ales and three or four local ciders at any one time, with regular ‘out-of-area’ beers coming in. There is always something on the bar for the serious ale drinker. All our beers are Cask Marque approved and regularly score 100%. The Bedford is also renowned for it's live music events. We usually have a band playing every Saturday evening and on the last Sunday evening of the month. Along with this and other one-off nights, you can be assured that there will always something happening in our funky and quirky bar!

Was drenched from storms whilst riding from London. Accommodated us although soaking wet and wanted to leave bikes indoors. Great beer, fantastic food. Most of all, a fun team with exceptional customer service.

The Vale Vault

The Vale Vault has been two years in the planning and our dream has now become a reality. We set out to design and build a cosy underground bar, that came with a certain distinctiveness not seen before in Tunbridge Wells. Owner, Mark Nicholson, has been running The Bedford upstairs since March 2013 and he always felt the space underneath the pub was never put to good use! What could be done that wasn’t being done anywhere else? The obvious answer was cocktails. We understand that there are many other bars in the town that offer cocktails, but they do not focus on them. Cocktails should be a thing of beauty. Perfectly crafted and designed to whet one’s appetite and leave you wanting more. Mark and his manager, Lauren, sat down and came up with a list of cocktails that would capture people’s attention. No silly names, no small measures and no cheap spirits. The theme would have a heavy ‘American’ slant and this was captured in the Vault’s first press release in October from the Times of Tunbridge Wells with a headline ‘Bringing 1920s America to Tunbridge Wells’. It stuck and we have now created a space where people can relax in a friendly, inviting environment and enjoy some of the delightful drinks we have on offer. To sample some of these delights, just turn up! If we can fit you in, we’ll show you what we mean.

The Grove Tavern

Good Ales, Good Service, Good Fun The Grove Tavern has been run by Steve Baxter since early 2003, now with a small, select team of staff that have many years experience in the industry. It is reputedly the oldest and smallest pub set just off of the High Street in the 'village' area of the spa town of Tunbridge Wells, close to the Pantiles and Chalybeate Springs. We pride ourselves on offering quality cask conditioned (real) ales alongside the usual range of lagers, cider, wines, premium label spirits and soft drinks. Whether looking for a permanent 'watering-hole' or just to pop-in for a quick refresher, you can be sure of a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome by both the staff and regulars alike. The landlord is also an I.T. Consultant so you can also join many of the others bringing in their computer problems for him to fix whilst they enjoy a light libation!

If you're looking for a 'gastro-pub,' then avoid the Grove Tavern! There are dozens of them to choose from in the town. But, if you're looking for a real pub, then the Grove Tavern is the place to go, and there aren't many, if any real pubs left in the town. Good beer, good conversation, good dog and most importantly - good staff. It's a gem and should be visited when passing through Tunbridge Wells.

The Common Rooms

A unique venue with possibly the best view in Tunbridge Wells for a bar. Housed in a Georgian building, we bring an element of Shoreditch to town with great cocktails, ice cold lagers on tap and great surroundings all to the tune of vinyl playing in the background.

The Hopbine

The Hopbine is a freehouse pub nestled away in an idyllic location. Tucked in the countryside, opposite picturesque cottages and with an open log fire throughout the winter, The Hopbine epitomises all that a country pub should be. Our menu choices are all freshly prepared on premises, using as many locally sourced ingredients as possible. The kitchen serves hand made pizzas that are cooked in our wood fired oven plus traditional pub classics and Sunday roasts. The Hopbine is a freehouse and boasts a cellar, highly prized when maintaining real ales. We have a selection of real ales, keg ales, lagers, and a selection of ciders from local breweries. We also have an outside deck and lower garden nestled at the rear of the pub.
