Had looked up several places to eat,but so glad we decided to go here!At first I thought the menu had too much choice on it to be good food(which is often the case),how wrong I was!We ordered 2 lasagne,a burger meal,and a chicken meal.All arrived very quickly and all piping hot.The lasagne-home made was fantastic would really recommend.Daughter said her burger was wonderful and the bread bun really good.Husband enjoyed his chicken covered in sauce.The salad was not the usual run of the mill.Overall we were really impressed and would definately go again when up that way! Thanks to Tracey for your wonderful service and to Tom(fantastic cook!)

Two of us ate here on a Sunday lunch time. We didn't want a roast dinner so were really pleased to see they had a full menu. The staff were really friendly (lots of smiles and saying hello), there was a wide menu with a really good veggie selection (which pleased my sister), and the food was reasonably priced. I had the cheese and bacon burger, and my sister had the fried halloumi. Both came with chips. The meals were good sized and we both really enjoyed them - just what we needed. Nice clean toilets too which is always good!! Would definitely recommend.Thank you so much for your great review.

Came on Sunday to have the Xmas lunch, and as with all their food it didn't disapoint.Perfect amount, turkey was so tender and juicy, starter of potatoes and leak soup was amazing, and the desert unreal, chef really did himself proud with this Xmas meal. The Ox just constantly impresses and is always worth a visit for food and drink, keep it up.

First time I have been to have a Sunday lunch, we were recommended by the staff (Phillipa)on a previous visit. The food was absolutely amazing. We went for the Sunday lunch for 5 people, the meat came out on a tray with Yorkshireâs and crackling and the amount of meat was unreal. We got pork, beef, gammon and turkey (we upgraded for £3 each to rump beef) the peas (mushy) were the best I have ever tasted (we ordered not peas and more roasties because they were amazing) we got carrots, battered cauliflower, Savoy cabbage. We have come home with 7 cartons of left over food because you really do get so much. 3 out of 5 of us had room (after a break) for deserts and again they were so tasty and nice big portions. Big, HUGE shout out to Owen! Who served us he was amazing, nothing ordered wrong, made sure we were happy and such a friendly lad. This is a must place to visit. We visit quite regularly and continue to be impressed with the quality and consistency. The menu is always extensive with some quite ambitious and tasty 'specials' always available. Another impressive feature is that they are able to tweak the menu to suit the customer where possible. Portions are plentiful and there is no compromise on quality. Good, well kept, beer is on offer. Prices are very reasonable for what is provided. Service is first class .Special mention for Linda for her humour alongside her very dedicated and professional approach at all times.

A little of the beating track, but we'll worth a visit good home cooked meals,,the Monday night steak night seemed very popular and was very busy, but to be honest I preferred lunch time visit ,whilst it was a little quieter ,and you could soak up the atmosphere,

We visited here today for lunch and we were all really impressed! 1 of us chose the hot beef and onion baguette which came with chips and 2 of us had the lasagne off the lunch menu which came with either chips or garlic bread. All meals were beautiful! Friendly staff, friendly warm atmosphere and excellent prices! We will definitely be back!

Staying in a nearby hotel visiting relatives we decided to have our evening meal in Champs, big mistake, there was no draught beer available so we ordered alternative drinks while perusing the menu. There was absolutely nothing for the vegan member of our party. Do they not realise that we are now in the 21st century? No excuse, every establishment should have vegan options on the menu.Hi Stewart237.As you were informed at the time of your visit, we had a problem with our cellar gas which meant we had no draught beer, this problem was totally out of our hands and was rectified as quickly as possible.We did reply to your email regarding vegan options, and did let you know that we had very little choice for this dietary requirement. However we take your comments on board and will be adding in Vegan options onto our next menu.We hope to see you again soon.Regards

Food was fresh and tasty, one of the nicest meals I've had in a while!! I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact i didn't like any of the fancy butterfly chicken toppings so asked for just peppercorn sauce on instead (much cheaper option) but had to pay £3 extra on top, didn't make sense buy anyway love the food.
